Strange thing is I've lived up here for nearly 30 years and never developed a Cheshire accent .....but I think that's out of stubbornness

I was the same when I lived right up North. There was no way I was picking up that accent.

Funnily enough, youngest son's GF is from Aberdeenshire and she has a lovely, polite accent. None of that 'Doric tongue' shennanigans.
