Is it just me or is anyone else incredibly fascinated by the fact there are no planes above our heads?

I know it's terrible for those affected by the grounding of aircraft and I feel for them ...I do! But part of me loves it!   It feels a bit weird knowing there's nothing up there.

I can't stop looking out if the window! We have a clear blue sky here and normally it would be full of signs of aircraft, but today......nothing! Totally blue sky, unspoilt by criss- crossing contrails.

It's not likely to happen again anytime soon......SO LOOK UP!

I bet all those people who live under a flight path are loving the peace
I bet! I love planes and have been know to park up near heathrow on the odd occasion There is a little street of houses nearby that have the most amazing view of the flight path, you can see them landing ....I've always wondered if the people living there thought it was so "amazing".  I can't believe that people live that close!

I'm glad you are enjoying the clear skies Ducky, but I'm not, 'cos I am stuck in Krakow, when I should have been back home today. With a bit of luck I should be on a flight to Scotland on Sunday, but my hubby is having to wait until Monday. We are actually the lucky ones, some people are having to wait until next Friday for a flight home.

The only time I hear planes is early mornings in the summer from City Airport..so I've not notce a lack of...

But I lived for years next to a railway and nevernoticedthe train noise...my mum did a bit butonly when my husband was a guard and used t go mad on the horn past her house...he was brought up living right next to Clapham Junction and said he never really noticed the train noises either

its true about not noticing sound after a while, i've lived here for 13 years and about 8 years ago they decided to change the bus route from down to pass my house, double decker buses passing all day long, if you asked me what time next bus was i couldn't tell you

before living here we lived in a house with a train line at the bottom of the garden, we came home from the pub one night *abit tipsy* and there where lights and men on the track, me and my ex couldn't understand what was going on, till we got nearer and realised they where fixing the track
