It was hilarious seeing Danny Kaye when he was sooooo very young, and a young Angela Lansbury too ...  the clip was classic, real tongue twisting stuff.  Very clever. 

Glad you liked the Pete and Dud sketches.  My favourite all time comedians (RIP both), although I do like some of the modern day stuff too, like Stewart Lee and Rhod Gilbert.  Pete and Dud's comedy was so simple, a play on words with shameless innuendo.  I have only just discovered these classics on utube, although I had seen them all in the 60s when they were first broadcast

Hi Twee the old style comedy relied heavily on impeccable timing and clever use of words but I also have plenty of time for most things as long as they're tasteful and well observed

hi heat   Just watched GGM.  How funny was that?  I loved it when it was on tv and always watched it.  The 'crap on the side' comment made me lol.

I will go rooting around for some more clips .. I was watching Pete and Dud on utube all afternoon.  It was like finding treasure, being able to watch them again and I remembered most of the words too.  My memory is sound like a pound (a Sreeism)

hi heat.  Tom Courteney has to be one of the best actors in the country.  His comic timing is perfect.  And he is a great classical actor.  I have read the book and it's very funny.  He was great in the Royle Family special, wasn't he?

He was in some harrowing movies as well...

hi heat   Thanks for posting that clip.  I had never seen it before.  Truly sinister stuff and Peter O'Toole was so cold-blooded in that role.  I have tried to find a trailer for my favourite Tom Courtenay film - The Dresser - but it seems that utube cannot show it for some reason .. I suspect copyright issues.  In the Dresser, Tom Courtenay plays opposite Albert Finney.  He plays Albert Finney's gay Dresser.  It's a wonderful period film and Tom Courtenay is magnificent in the role, so much so that they were both put up for separate Oscars in 1986 (I think).  Neither won that year but Best Actor (Finney was in this category) was won by Dennis Hopper for a less memorable role in an almost forgotten film.  Still, the Dresser has stood the test of time.  Have you seen it?
