Christmas movies that MUST be watched.

When I say Christmas movies I don't mean films about Santa and all his reindeer mates I mean the ones they seem to show every Christmas just because there's some unspoken law that it has to be done.

For me... The Great Escape.. Muppet Christmas Carol...Zulu....It's A Wonderful Life...Scrooge (the old one)... Blackadder's Christmas Carol.

There's loads more for me but er, I've forgotten them all

My fav Xmas movies are It's a Wonderful Life and Scrooge..... but I love the both the Great Escape and Zulu (which I think is on sometime over the Xmas hols), and even though I promise myself that I won't watch them for the hundreth time I always do

It's one of the greats - ahead of it's time with the whole techycolour/Black and white thing going on.,
Similar to the Wizard of Oz in that regard.

If I ever have to watch 'It's a Wonderful Life' again, I will puke over the nearest person to me (even if that is my cat whom I love).

By "Scrooge", I presume you mean the Alastair Sim version. It is of course brilliant, but the big problem with it is that it's nearly always the colourised version that gets shown on TV now, and indeed it's that colourised version that C5 are showing on Christmas Eve.

Funnily enough, I was talking about this very recently: the same director went on to film a remake in Hollywood with Kiefer Sutherland, but annoyingly he changed the ending, and the result isn't as patch on the Dutch original...
