Don't get more excited than the kids on Xmas eve and tell them they can open one present coz chances are they'll pick the best one meant to be opened last on Xmas day

Don't let your mother-in-law get to you
Now you come to mention mince pies slim, they were a massive no no for me, I thought they were yuk....but Mr L's dad made me try one the other day and I absolutely loved it.
I have spent the last 20 years avoiding them like the plague because I hated fruit in cakes etc... do your taste buds change when you get older?! It was delish!

I was about to say, don't put more than one sleeping tablet in your MIL's drink. In case she has to stay the night.
dont play 'basketball' using peanuts when your Grandma falls asleep on the sofa with her mouth wide open

i remember when i was little i saw my brother doing it..i was only about 4 or 5 but he was 19 LOL
Don't make lists.
dont buy a complicated tractor to build from scratch
dont buy your kids (grandkids, nethews, nieces, etc) anything to build unless it's something their dad really likes too
dont go outside doing the conga on new years eve if there is a lot of ice about one could end up in A+E from slipping and putting hand/arm through glass door
don't buy anything that needs batteries
Don't overdo Christmas drinks with the neighbours while the turkey is cooking.......my mother did that one year and totally missed Christmas altogether...but she did have a good sleep(lol)
