I have had quite a few horrible chopping accidents in the kitchen

They've reduced considerably since I started actually taking my mother's advice on chopping onions...   ALWAYS USED A SERRATED KNIFE!

I still hate chopping chilli's...    I wear latex gloves to do it (which makes the dog bolt for the garden cos he assumes I am gonna drag him upstairs to wash his bum )...   cos otherwise no matter how much I scrub my hands afterwards I still end up burning my eyeball out hours later when I rub my eyes.

I hated chopping chilli for the same reason and used to wear gloves, but I've got around it by buying these recently: http://www.waitrose.com/shop/P...nts+chopped+jalapeno

They are bloody genius!! And perfect for me cos I don't use chilli very often so when I buy fresh ones, some always end up being thrown away. They also do bags of chopped herbs - I have the basil and parsley, again to save on the waste from fresh ones

My most hated item is still onion though, the buggers always make me cry, and I seem to need them regularly so buying the pre-chopped probably wouldn't be good value in this case

£1 for 17 ounces? Is that not daylight robbery?

£1 for no more stingy streaming eyes, could be worth it

Def give the chillis a try if its not something you use often - they still have the seeds in so you don't need to use much to get a kick oohhh thanks for the lenses tip, will have to try that sometime!

We use chilli's all the time Saz....    HOwever...  MrD is the one that uses them most (he cooks the chinese food).. and it doesn't bother him.

So... I will  invest in the bag of chilli's for the odd time I use them

(& I don't think a quid a bag is that bad tbh)
