Ah, now there's another take on it. It's batter here
Now, that's really confusing, my Norfolk friends call Yorkshire puddings 'batters' and claim they 'invented' them

Ahhhh. Mushy peas! why didn't yuh say what yuh meant?
Ok, what's the significance?
I'm not offended.
Uh-oh!
I've lived in the North for 25 years - still can't get my head around chips and gravy IT REALLY IS WRONG IMO. However - my kids love it. And I'm speaking as a proprieter of four fish and chip shops. All the mushy peas, gravy, curry sauce etc. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeugh - pickled onions and wallies for me!
I love chips with gravy
I love chips with cheese
I love kebab shop chips with garlic mayo and burger sauce (we call them dirty chips)
......But most of all I loveeeeeeeeee chips and curry sauce

We batter everything... my mate was home from Liverpool for a visit a few weeks ago and had her little boy with her. They were out walking and he asked if the could go to to the chippie because he was hungry. He chose pizza and chips.. and he was kicking his mum and hissing 'Mum, mum... he's dipped it in this white stuff?!!!' She replied 'Aye, son.. that's your heritage - get used to it'
Chips with salt and vinegar, in paper, walking home when it was all you could afford after a night out......gawd they tasted great.

With scraps . Nothing like it imo.

Nope.....Mushy peas are from the green 'marrowfat' ones. Pease pudding is from the yellow split ones. (it would help, from time to time if GJ spoke bloody proppa English mind but!)
GJ should thank his lucky stars that he can afford the trimmings of pie and peas wiv is chips!!!!!!
