If it's a good chippy, fish and chips (and mushys) are hard to beat. .

If your chippy has a very high turnover, it's chips everytime, especially at this time of year. If the last time you went to your local chinese, the proprietor was showing signs of gout, then doubly so.

Hi Fluffy..it`s on the harbour. It`s the old fashioned one along to the right.  You get a fish and a half, loads of chips..enough for two. Perfect for a grippy Scot.

don't eat fish but I loves a portion of the old salt and vinegar chips   but I also loves vegetarian Yuk Sung with deep fried crispy seaweed - nom nom

Chinese for me ive discovered this amazing shredded chicken in house sauce from my friends local, its about 20 mins drive away, but worth it!!!

Definitely Chinese.  I hate plain food, especially deep fried things like fish and sausages, and I don't think I could eat a fish shop chip if my life depended on in

But they are the best ones.

Not sure, like them both - but could eat Chinese more often without getting fed up.

My appologies. I was thinking of when we were at Anstruther! We didn't make it to Arbroath...this year!

I like the Anstruther..great fish. It`s gone a bit hi-tech for me though.

I love Peppies old fashioned service.. the banter`s free.

Crispy fish...I like the wee crunchy chips you get to the bottom of the poke.

I've had fish and chips at Arbroath harbour, but I got them at the restaurant/takeaway on the left as you head in.

Ate them as we watched the queue outside Peppies 

   

Occasionally I really really fancy fish and chips but I always feel greasy and bloated afterwards.

 With a Chinese at least you can reheat any leftovers.

I'll try and keep Peppies in mind for the next time we're in Arbroath.
One place I wouldn't recommend though is the one just opposite Burns' statue, in the centre of Ayr. Forgotten it's name though.

To date, the best fish and chips I've had were from Harry Ramsdens in Glasgow. Absolutely friggin lush

But given the choice tonight, it would have to be Chinese

  Nooooooo!  Chip shop chips are the food of the devil!

The best fish and chips to eat in, for me has to be Smiths Brasserie Ongar Essex.

I've had Harry Ramsden's, but it was in Blackpool.
It was quite good though....considering!

Chinese for me, fish n chips are just too heavy for me.  Although tonight I am 'turning japanese'

our local fish and chip shop also run the chinese takeaway next door

have to say i prefer the curry sauce and the chips from a chinese run fish and chip shop

If I can get a good fish and chips I also love chinese
