Sir Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon launch the 30th Children in Need appeal, with the whole country joining in a massive marathon of fun and fundraising. Among the highlights are special installments of Merlin, Casualty, Walk on the Wild Side and Lark Rise to Candleford, plus a preview of the Doctor Who Christmas special. Musical performances come from the casts of EastEnders, Hollyoaks, The One Show and The Bill, as well as JLS, Taylor Swift, Westlife and the BBC newsreaders.
After a break for the news it continues with music from Pixie Lott, Harry Connick Jr, Spandau Ballet, Paolo Nutini, Madness, David Gray, Annie Lennox and many more. There is double trouble from Jon Culshaw and Debra Stephenson, Taggart and Rebus clash in a mini detective drama, and the stars from the West End race to TV Centre.
Finally, the grand total for the 30th Children in Need appeal is revealed.
