Do we do it in our heads, or can we wright it down?
If you have a chess set you could set up the pieces & do it that way, or write it down I suppose but doing it in your head would be really difficult unless you plan on beating me in four moves
I think it would be more like losing in 4 moves as I haven't played chess for a long time and I don't think I was ever that hot at it.quote:Originally posted by Heatseek:

You're probably an undercover grand-master and I'm gonna get hammered

Umm. my hazy recollection of the rules is that it's only your first pawn movement that can move two squares the rest are limited to one sqare at a time.
That's right...you've still got loads of pieces left to move though...

The first time a pawn moves it can move 2 squares - it is not limited to just the first pawn you move, so Heatseek's move is OK.
(But don't ask me to play - I is awful)
OK. Just checked the rules. it's EACH pawn's first move has the option of moving one or two squares, so I'll let you off.

Now this would be a great game if you could get an online chess set up and each move then copy and paste the current move, so you would be able to see the chess board and pieces after each move on here...
I will have a look into it and see if it can be done

Hi Bov...I started this thread having had a beer too many on my birthday & having received a card off a very dear pen-pal, before the internet we used to post chess moves....a game could take a year !

Hi Heat
I would have forgotten where i was after about a week
It works well if you have a board set up...but as you say with technology we should be able to have competitions in a single thread...
I have a small travel chess set that I'm using. The playing surface is about 3"x3"

Thanks for the move Efft
I do, of course, know that Knight starts with a 'K', but used 'N' so as to not get it mixed up with the King.

I'm gonna make you wait a minute
Almost 4 moves each and neither of us has been annihilated. Gosh, we must be good!

Sorry to hear that Fluffy... Hope you feel better soon. Don't feel under any pressure if you're not up to it.
