On again tomorrow night ITV 23.15.

I only saw a bit of it cos either me or the dog pressed the remote and stopped taping. Was all a bit glum and poor me stuff. Before I face the wrath of Crusty Nuts YES I'm aware she's been seriously ill and I genuinely do feel for her for that and what happened with Ashley, but she needs to stop banging on about all the negative press and weeping over it. No-one's forcing her to be in the public eye or be a judge on one of the most high-profile shows on the planet. Just looked like she wants it all harps and angels and choirs singing her praises, plus she's made a serious amount of wedge out of being on the front cover, negative or positive.

I shall conclude my critique when I have seen the rest of it

get all the awkward questions out the way so she doesn't get asked them in every single interview
She didn't actually answer anything. I've never seen so many annoying pauses while the interviewer waits for a response in an interview. She had nothing to say about anything. I expected her to at least be alert and media savvy given her background. Nope.

One had to watch the latter half after Wallander. I thought maybe her advisors had made a mistake but sometimes it's difficult to call. I'm a fan, I'm pleased for anyone to get on, but we both felt that it was a calculated attempt to call in and retain the Sun reader end of the spectrum. She doesn't need to lower herself by going for the deadwood shieght Piers position. Rather like her ex she is the best at what she does.

I watched her interview last night I dont think she came across thick at all just very emotional and very fragile, she has not fully recovered from malaria which nearly took her life and it is so obvious she still loves Ashley Cole I really felt for her,she did cry a lot and was trying hard to control her emotions she wears her heart on her sleeve, she may be mega rich but I find her refreshingly  down to earth.

She is, but she's v emotional. Unlike most oh here, I like her
Yup .... I gotta say: me too!!

I thought she can across as very genuine. It's obvious to see she's still heart broken.
Her & her mum both look like really emotional people.
Fair enough if you don't like her, that's your opinion .... but I think she's alright. I just hope she doesn't disappear completely up Simon cowells arse, although thinking about it, he's probably helped her through this really tough time in her life. Oh & that Derek guy is gorgeous *drool*

I agree Marg.....yes there were a lot of pauses which were a bit annoying, but she was obviously thinking about what she wanted to say and wanting to be careful that she didn't divulge confidences or be disloyal to others.  I for one, applaud her for that

I don't know what she has to say that hasn't been all over the Sun, Mirror, Star, Heat and the various celebrity Sunday supplements. She's even been in the Guardian this week.  I get that she has a show-biz lifestyle with a fair amount of controversial talking points and she's very attractive when she's not too thin but I'm just utterly bored with her, the X Factor, Lady Ga Ga, Wayne Rooney and his wag, cheating footballers and their wags in general.

Yeah, I see what you mean but that is thier version of events .... this was hers.
I never believe what I read in the papers anyway ... I always think they blow things out of proportion, like the malaria story. I didn't believe it would have been half as bad as they said it was ..... but last night it became pretty evident, it was.

I am not a Cheryl Cole Fan by any stretch of the imagination. I think she is stunning but, ans that has taken her far, I admire her because for someone to have such mediocre talent she has taken it and ran.  I felt sorry for her, its obvious she still loves Ashley and that she didn't want the marriage to end but it is something she had to do.

However, the show was carefully constructed to make people feel sorry for Cheryl, its supposed to be life stores it was basically just all about Ashley, the x factor and Malaria. There were massive parts of her life that people want to know about that was not added:

supposed spat with Nadine
Will.i.am
The toilet attendant incident (This is a massive one because 8 years on it what she is regularly associated with)
Rows with Charlotte Church, Lily Allen

I don't feel any different to her, I always felt compassion towards her regarding Ashley and the Malaria, however she still is plastered everywhere, she can say no to things like but I suppose she might as well stay on the gravy train while its still running.

She's done "her own words" stuff for the press from what I recall.  With regards to malaria, it kills millions, so I didn't distrust reports that said she was severely ill, it's what I'd expect.  I think a lot of people took the attitude that she was just doing it with in eye on publicity and the press were milking it, didn't actually realise how serious malaria is.  An understandable suspicion in the age of Katie Price, Amy Winehouse, reality shows and our celebrity obsessed press.

I didn't think she milked anything re the malaria tbh. If she was doing interviews from her sick bed and pictures were being released then I would have raised eyebrows, but it was kept quite low key and it seemed the journos were only getting snippets of info about what was going on.
But I do think the interview and it's content was strategically timed with an intention of clawing back some public popularity. I do wonder, had the whole Gamu thing not have happened and had Cheryl not had any negative press, would she have still done the interview in the same way?

I don't get the whole Gamu thing.  Regardless as to whether she was lent on or whether she just didn't put her through, Gamu, her mum and the family have been told to leave the country because her mum claimed benefits which she was not entitled to.  That's what I understand anyway.  I don't see what either Cheryl or the show could do in that situation and although I don't watch the show, even if Cheryl didn't put Gamu through because she didn't rate her - so what, it's only a glorified karaoke competition.  People need to direct their negativity towards people who deserve it.

Incidently, what's happened with the whole Gamu thing, it was all over the press for a week and then nothing!

That's correct. The initial outrage was because Gamu was very popular with the public and based on talent and performance throughout the audition process, deserved to go through more than Katie or Cher (which I agree with). The show had nothing to do with the whole deportation and benefit fraud thing, that responsibility lies with her mum, who should have double checked her paperwork before letting her daughter appear on the tv.  (Although maybe she was hoping Gamu would get through to the live shows and thus have a stronger case to stay in the UK - who knows?)

According to this - http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/n...er-at-the-same-time/

'Her mother, it turned out, had failed to fill in her visa renewal form correctly and more to the point had illegally had “recourse to public funds” – ie, claimed benefits, which you can’t do on a work visa.'

She had claimed child tax credit and working tax credit, i.e.rebates on tax she had already paid as a nurse, and apparently she had wrongly been told that she could claim these.
Apparently hard working nurses from certain countries are expected to live on less than others.

I saw all the interview last night. I think her pain over Ashley is genuine, but I'm not believing she was 'forced' into talking about it. She would have known what the questions were going to be before she went on, and what's annoyed me is that nothing controversial was addressed (her happy slapping lollipop toilet lady incident, for example). Former guests from what I've seen are always put on the spot re public spats or other topics that don't put them in such a positive light, but with Miss golden knickers she who can't do no wrong it didn't happen.

I still found the whole thing a very conveniently timed publicity drive to win back popularity.

I can't stand Cheryl Cole, people forget about her assault charge and that she is just a chav thug at the end of the day, devoid of any talent, and did she really think that when she started dating a premiership England player that he would stay faithfull to her?. Pass me the sick bucket I can't bear the dumbass cow.
What an absolutely horrible thing to say

So just because he's in the PL it should be a no brainer that he's gonna sleep around and cheat? Bollocks. I don't care what his status is, or what his colleagues or mates may or may not do, he's still a human being and if he promised to be faithful to her then he should have done so. Messing with someone's head like that is NEVER acceptable, doesn't matter who you are, or rather, who you think you are.

Exactly, and it's not as if he could go out and see better than what he's got everywhere he looks. So damn right she wouldn't have expected him to cheat on her.

I don't like her much, but I think she could have expected Cole to be faithful. She seems genuinely upset by the breakdown of her marriage. He may have just been flippant about it all, but she wasn't to know that.
