Subo wasn't nominated again.  She could be the most popular, most talented, most successful female artist of the last year, and she won't get a nom because she's not 'cool.'  Instead, shit acts like Chavryl Cole get noms, and acts 90% of people I know have never heard of get nominated.  (I mean, I who the fcuk had actually ever heard of ELBOW, seriously?!    The BRITS are so shit now.

It's probably down to the lack of British music talent in the charts that they have to scrape the barrel a bit.

I remember when it was called the The BPI awards in the 80s and was hosted by Noel Edmonds - it was primetime viewing and everyone watched.



There was a classic one in 1984 when Prince attended and didn't say a word when accepting his awards - he was slated in the media and vowed never to return to the UK.

Subo is a glorified karaoke artist. Its about time she started releasing original material. If her voice is as good as they claim then it will sell.

I don't like her but find Matt Cardle being up for one due to that song a joke tbh (prefer original by miles), he'll hopefully not win because i'll not be happy if Plan B loses out to him.



I agree about SuBo too Riverock, i've never liked her.

Susan Boyle is now set for life..good luck to her.She had a bad time due to bullying etc.I hope she sticks two fingers up to all the wee neds that picked on her.

I like Susan Boyle -  her success in the states has been phenomenal - success Cherly Cole could only dream of.

I'm not a massive subo fan, though I do actually quite like her and her voice...   I wish she would actually release original material though.  My opinion on her aside, if Chavryl has got a nom, why does she deserve nominating over subo?  Is she a better singer?  No.  So why didn't subo get a nom?  At least subo has got a decent voice and has shifted a ton of CDs.  But as she is uncool, the music snobs at the BRITS will see hell freeze over before they would let be nominated.  And no I have never heard of elbow and neither has anyone I know. 

I think the Brits is mainly for "Pop" acts etc.

I had a ned friend in Ashton Lane. He only had 5 teeth but he said I looked stunning. (He was pissed right enough).

Most of the Neds here ,speak really slowly.They say "in that" followed with "By the Way"
They have teeth like a row of condemmed houses.

The Brits are about promoting the industry as youthful and sexy because youth and sex are aspirational - we all want to be young and sexy whether we are or aren't. The Brits organisers don't want their industry to be perceived in the same light as Reader's Digest, Werthers Orginals, Loo Roll Cosys, Lavender Perfume and Twinsets and Pearls.

Cheryl Cole's young and sexy and Susan Boyle isn't.

I'd have thought, overall, Cheryl Cole as part of Girls Aloud, X Factor judging and with her advert work would have been considerably more successful than Susan Boyle.

It should be about celebrating music, no matter the genre or who it comes from. I'm not into celebrating celebrity for celebrity's sake. It's a Brit award nomination for her solo contribution to music. She's only been solo for a year. She doesn't deserve it.

Cheryl Cole might look to some as young and  sexy but she can't sing for pish!

I saw the complete list in The Grauniad, and to single out Cheryl Cerl when the likes of Matt Cardle n Olly Murrs are in there seems a little unfair. Absolute sheight in each category IMO.

It's not exactly up against much... the Scouting for Girls and Plan B ones are my favourites.

Out of every single artist that has been nominated for an award... the only person I actually like is Robert Plant... I don't mind Cee Lo Green too much either. The rest just bore me.

For all that you slag off Cheryl Cole you have to admit she's a fighter. I admire that in any woman. I would love to hate her but I don't. She's everything I don't like about music but yet I still like her songs....and I like her as a person. 

No award ceremonies mean anything now. It's all fixed to some extent. Even album sales mean nothing. I don't pay for albums. Neither do any of my mates so sales don't mean anything really

If that's her only category my money's on Florence.
