yes cos she knows so much about singing...
Well she does do it for a living and has had countless successful albums/singles so she will know what it takes to be successful in that industry..
Unless you're saying this because you don't think she is a very good singer, but then again I bet Simon Cowell isn't a very good singer.

Oh Crunchy, you know she's only got the job cos she's a marketable product. I'll give her credit for the work she has done with her category, but in regards to having the knowledge and the know how that Cowell, Louis Walsh, Pete Waterman or Sharon Osbourne have? Not on your nelly my son! She's been successful cos she's been told what to wear, what to sing, how to stand, how to handle press...she's a plastic media dream and very 'now' which is why she's successful. I'd bet my house that if Stevie Wonder or Pete Townsend were banging down Simon's door for her seat she'd be gone

I never said she had the knowledge of Cowell and co, but to be fair, most competitions similar have a couple of experts like Cowell and Walsh, and then a couple of people who have actually had a career as a singer which is what the contestants are aiming for. She might not have had a long career like some others but she's had success in her 7 years, so she must know a bit.
It's the same with Popstars back in the day, they had Pete Waterman, Louis Walsh, and then Geri Halliwell alongside who like her or hate her, has had success actually doing what all the contestants are trying to become.

Yes Cheryl and that minging Geri Halliwell know how the business works and I think it's more luck than raw talent that's got them where they are. I just don't think they're qualified enough to give an opinion on a whole spectrum of talent, for example if a country or classical artist came in (both huge markets globally) - what advice could they offer that would be of real benefit? My point is A&R Management like Simon and Managers like Louis have a knowledge of what sells records, what's popular in other countries, what makes the public tick. In the States Cheryl will be met with a lot of country singers, it will be interesting to see her critique.

Because none of us have worked in the music industry and had success on a big level, whether it be as a manager, owning a record label like, or being part of a successful group or a successful solo singer
Back to what I said then, it's nothing to do with having perfect pitch or even any idea about a tune, she's the nation's sweetheart in the moment and gets the gigs because being a member of a successful group is in itself not a recommendation.

What about Danni Minogue then? She doesn't seem to get the same level of jealousy criticism aimed at her
I'm not jealous of Cheryl Danni has done a lot in Australia but again, I don't think she should be a judge. That's why I love American Idol, cos the judges on the panel are much more established (Kara Dioguardi, Randy Jackson, Cowell...) They had Ellen on there this year and it was clear she was a bit out of her depth (and now she's left )
