I think he'd probably prefer to have his mum fit and healthy TBH. Yes - Charlies letter from home will probably tug at the heart strings but .............I don't think he planned it that way.

i'm not a fan of charlies but the fact that his mother is ill and he talks of it (occasionally) is not his fault. I'm sure all HM's talk of their family .......the fact that Charlies mother is/or has been in a coma is simply a fact.

At that point, I will get my sick bucket out. Sick

Well like him or not ........his mother is in a coma. I'm sure he didn't deliberately put her in that state so that he'd get sympathy in the BB house Roll Eyes Whether you like him or not ......surely you can see that it's horrible to have a mother in that condition.

of course it will tug at heart strings but ..........he didn't effin engineer it FGS>

Why go in bb then.

Brilliant post Clapping

He even found a chance to "casually mention" it again right in the middle of all that rowing going on last night. Straight to camera, of course Roll Eyes Slimey little oik!

As I understand it - his mother has been in a coma for some considerable time ........there are other family members who are taking care. maybe ..........just maybe - he thought that by going into the BB house he'd give a momentary lift to the carers (and his mum if she's able to comprehend)...................long term illnesses cabn be very, very draining ...........a bit of light releif is good isn't it? I don't think the mother is in iminent danger of dying ...........there are others taking care of her .........I can't see the problem TBH ......i bet he's given his family a real lift.

Yes Suzy i see your point, but thats not what the op was about. It's about Charlie winning on the sympathy vote. He say's often in the house that he wants to win for the cash to go to his mum, if he did a sponsored walk or cycle he would raise more awareness and would probably be more appreciated.
Being on a reality tv show doesn't go down well if your mother is in a bad way.
Bethni
Not a hope VS. I still can't see how BB want him to win. I've asked the question over and over again but no one can give a plausible answer.
Freddie's tears the other night could have done it for him but his confidence in staying tomorrow night has blown that for him.
I know you hate it but Rodders or Sophie will win unless they do something really stupid in the next two weeks and I can't see that happening.

It would have been sufficient to have heard about Charlie's mother just one time. But Charlie has made a point of mentioning it nearly every night on the live feed at some point. There is such a thing as overkill and a time when the sympathy vote is used as a tool to win a show, as evidenced by the many sob stories on X Factor and similar type shows.

I have every sympathy for Charlie and his mother. She is apparently in a coma. What I would ask though is this: why has Charlie left his mother for nearly three months to come on BB? And, more importantly, why did he say on live feed last night that he intended to cycle around the world for charity when he left the BB house. There seems to be a conflict here imo. If your mother is unwell, why would you want to spend a total of approximately six months away from her?

Just to put things in perspective. When my Dad was terminally ill me and my sister took it in turns to spend a week at my parents house helping my mum nurse him ....it wasn't easy we both had three young kids each and lived a long way away.

My parents used to go to bed about ten .............i'd sleep on the settee in the next room because I wanted to be as close as poss (Dad couldn't do the stairs).

I'm not one to go to bed early ..............there was no cable then ....my TV for the night was the first gulf war ...........i'd far rather be watching a family member in the BB house - it would have really lifted our spirits TBH.
Soozy Woo
None of us know the situation and we can't make a judgement on it.
I know if it was me I would prefer my son to go out and live his life and take all the chances he can get.
If the others talk about their parents and families it's only natural that he does too.
I also saw how Pete used his dead friend and his downtrodden Mother to win. So I won't be fooled either.

that is sad .........all the more reason for Charlie to get in the house and lift his families spirits IMO. it'll give them something else to think/talk about other than his mothers condition. A family illness can become so all consuming and you all become so insular ......it's good IMO to have something that''l detract and may even in the long run help his mum.

Well said strike! Clapping

It seems people are only allowed to show sympathy for a priviledged, slimy upstart like Freddie Fontleroy.

One person (the OP) suggests that Charlie might get a letter from his nan etc etc and the sheep all jump on the Charlie-knocking band-wagon as though the letter's already been sent!

It really is getting pathetic! Roll Eyes

I've been in the same boat.... with both parents within a few years. We all rallied round and were there for them as they had always been for us.
I'm just saying i couldn't leave for 3 months' with no word from outside, not knowing how things were at home. No matter how i raised the spirits of those at home, i couldn't put myself through that. It may sound cynical, and for that i'm sorry, but perhaps the thought of ÂĢ100,000 is helping him cope.

Absobloodyloutely. there are some nasty f***kers in here. Personally I'm really not that taken with Charlie but the way people keep saying he's using his mother as an excuse ......a trick to win. it's disgusting IMO.

He is a House Mate .....who happens to have a sick mother. It surely is no surprise that from time to time she crops up in conversation .............all of them talk about their family.

I'm sure given the choice ................charlie would prefer that his mother was alive and in good health ........................he isn't a physician and can't do that...........................I bet his family are getting some welcome relief from seeing son/brother/nephew/grandson in the house.

How is that a bad thing?
Soozy Woo
I'm not saying he's using his mother's illness Confused I'm only answering the original post. If Charlie wins i hope its for his wit, humour and character....not for symapthy thats all.
He is sure to have fans...we all have favourites.
I feel sorry for his family, illness is never nice and it takes its toll on everyone. This is not an attack on his mother or even him for that matter. Frowner

I quite agree ................i'm quite sure though he didn't make his mother ill to get there. There has been no mention on the HL's .......................where's the prob?

Should people with sick family members refrain from entering the BB house in case they're given sympathy?
