This was in my local paper tonight, the windmill is just a short distance up the road from my home, thank goodness I didn`t come across them I`d have been sorely tempted to trip Charlie up with my crutch
Pensioner Sarah Smith, from Whitburn, was in for a double surprise as her 22-year-old grandson brought along fellow contestant and best pal Rodrigo Lopes, 23.
"I can't believe it," she said. "I've got not one but two gorgeous boys in my house."
Charlie, from Cleadon Village, made a whistle-stop tour to the region two weeks ago to see mum Sharon, who is in a rehabilitation unit after suffering from a severe aneurism two years ago that left her unable to walk and talk.
Since leaving the house almost a month ago, where he won fourth place, Charlie has had an action-packed few weeks.
"It's been crazy," he said. "I've been doing so many fun things, modelling shoots, personal appearances and I've even been on the catwalk.
Brazilian Rodrigo, who came fifth on the show, was shown the sights of the area by Charlie, and was particularly taken with the Whitburn Mill windmill.
He said: "We don't have anything like this back in Sao Paulo, isn't it wonderful?
"I think this whole area is so beautiful and I love the sea."
The pair, who have been making a number of appearances together are looking forward to a weekend out on the town, before they head back to London.
