does anybody make baked apples?   I remember it was a dish in first year home ec at high school and never made one since.

not me...and we never had then at school neither Kaffs

We were taught how to scramble eggs,  bake an apple and which cheese toasted best.    No bearing on real life at all.. never mentioned M & S once!

Same here And iron a handkerchief

Never ever did HE.....we did Latin and Greek when that was going on

OOh - get you!   Our language classes didn't clash - it was cookery or needlework in first year and you swapped disciplines in second year.  Meanwhile the boys did metalwork or woodwork.

If you were specialising in arts(humanities these days) or sciences...then you didn't do Home Ec or Needlework

ah.. we didn't specialise in anything till third year - everyone had to do the non academic stuff in the first two years.  Can you guess I didn't carry on with the cooking?

I went to a really old fashioned girls grammar school....we even wore Enid Blyton style tunics until the Lower Sixth and then it was navy dresses with white collars that had to be a certain length......they made you kneel down and your skirt had to touch the floor
