Day 23: Farewell to our final five

If you're anything like us, letting go does not come easy. We've watched Speidi, Rylan, Razor, Ryan and Claire sweat their way through to this, the very last day. Before they walk up those stairs, blinking at the bright lights and sniggering at Brian's smutty innuendos, we thought we'd give you one more chance to see them in their natural habitat, the Celebrity Big Brother House.

It's been a chilled evening, with Claire from Steps spending a record amount of time prepping her hair, Razor refusing to be fazed, Ryan retreating into such silent immobility so as to be indistinguishable from chairs, Heidi doing one last dance for Spencer and Rylan squeezing in one last melodrama. Clad, as we've come to expect, in tiny pants, Rylan struggled to shut his case which is a miracle as he has not just been on a shopping holiday.

At the time of writing he's still only in tiny pants. We'll be tweeting all hot dressing developments from @bbuklive and remember there’s still time to vote for your winner here.

Claire's hair preparation is way ahead of her outfit

The R at the beginning of both Razor and Ryan seems to stand for 'relaxed'

Rylan's 'R' however stands for 'rattled by a rammed case'

After 23 days in the Celebrity Big Brother House, Neil 'Razor' Ruddock has been sent off the CBB pitch in fifth place. Score indeed.

A basement-dweller for his first few nights in the House, Razor quickly bonded with his fellow housemates, proving a hit above and below ground. Speidi in particular were very vocal Razor fans, who loved the bear-like professional footballer and his jocular tales – well, to start with at least...

But back at the beginning... when Frankie sucked up a sacrificial nom and released the basement crew, none were happier than Razor, who ripped off his shirt in celebration and treated himself to a soak in the tub.

Once settled upstairs, Razor was more than ready to throw himself into tasks and even more so into parties. He seemed to have a particular penchant for dressing up or having his body modified with fake tan and belly-designs, something which is sure to go down well with his football chums outside the House. We should also note the amount of time he spent in his dressing gown and his apparent relaxed attitude to flashing his smalls - an image that'll be etched on our brains forever more.

However, it wasn't all belly laughs for Razor, who got into a tiny bit of trouble when he was a bit too enthusiastic about calming the House after Speidi's return.  He also managed to get the entire House put up for eviction alongside Ryan, as the pair had an off-the-record (but heavily monitored) chat during the Dictator task. But for the most-part he's been a friendly uncle figure, a somewhat steady and calming presence in that strange little compound.

While some of us won't those miss open-gown shots, we'll all miss our nightly fix of Razor and his sharp wit.

Razor, you might've snored - but you certainly didn't have us snoring.

Claire has finished Celebrity Big Brother in fourth place!

Any earlier would've been an actual Tragedy! Claire has left the Celebrity Big Brother House in fourth place.

The Steps singer proved to be a popular housemate, with Rylan in particular rendered almost speechless upon realising he would be sharing the House with the Claire from Steps.

The pop star, who we discovered did considerably better than fellow housemate Tricia in TV's Masterchef, took control in the kitchen early on and whipped up many a welcomed hearty meal for her fellow housemates. She even once made a crumble and a cake in one day – that is what we would deem a true culinary hero.

Her time in the House wasn't all cupcakes and icing sugar, however, as she fell fowl of Speidi after their second stint in the basement. The reality TV stars took particular offence to some of her comments about their relationship and nominated her, alongside pal Rylan, on Day 9, adding in that she was dull for good measure. This certainly threw the bubbly singer.

She sweated it out in the bedroom upon the pair's return to the House, but it wasn't long before she faced her fears and apologised to them. Despite her efforts, however, she probably won't be featuring on the twosome's Christmas card list.

Claire also showcased her stamina during the Shop 'til You Drop task, enduring her band's hit 5,6,7,8 on repeat in isolation. She claimed she he could have listened to it all night long, but her concerned housemates freed her after just over an hour and we were robbed of seeing just how far she'd go.

Task-wise, she also played a key role alongside Lacey in The Regime task, overthrowing Frankie's revolution by tapping his telephone and stealing the beauty trunk key. It was a pleasant surprise to see a mischievous side to Claire from Steps.

She lost her letter from home during the Diletters task and was moved to tears, not only by the loss of correspondence, but also the fact her fellow housemates refused to receive their letters out of solidarity. There's no 'i' in housemate (but there is in Speidi). When the letter ultimately came her way it was richly deserved.

Claire has been a beautiful housemate and we'll be feeling a deeper shade of blue without her on our telly box every night.

Ryan has finished Celebrity Big Brother in third place!

Farewell to our friend from the land down under – the man we used to know as Toadie, but who we've learnt to love as Ryan, has left the Celebrity Big Brother House in third place.

Ryan's time in the House started off on the down low, quite literally, when he was one of the unlucky ones sent straight to the basement. The only Aussie in the House showed he was willing to take one for the team from the word go, unblocking the drains on a reluctant Speidi's behalf so the housemates in the main House could have electricity. Ryan stepped up and showed he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

The US couple had short memories and picked Ryan for a special Diary Room task which resulted in BB dumping dogfood on his head. Did Ryan make a fuss? Of course he didn't.

Once united with the rest of the House, Ryan took on the role of Mr Motivator, putting the housemates through their paces in the gym day in, day out, doing sit-ups on anything and everything that would have him. Whether it be excelling in tasks, cleaning, or just being there for whoever needed a chat, Ryan always threw himself into everything, even literally so, at one point throwing himself into the snow in just his pants.

Despite being among the younger males, Ryan veered towards the dad role in the house and, dare we say it, earned himself a reputation as something of a goody two shoes. So no one was more shocked than us when he was hauled over the coals by Big Brother for a rule break.  Talking about nominations with Razor was his crime and as a punishment, the whole House was put up for eviction. In the words of Speidi, what a naughty 'toad-face'.

Ryan's go-getter attitude, however, got him in major trouble in the Angels and Devils task, when Rylan and Razor were put in charge of his every action. This involved hugging a confused Tricia for longer than was comfortable, giving her acting advice, offering to cut Frankie's toenails, and general tomfoolery.

The Fashion Police task saw Ryan take centre stage as he received a makeover from Paula and Rylan for being one of the worst dressed housemates. Ouch.

He beat pretty boy Sam when the pair faced eviction together but his run of success has finally come to a close. Ryan has been a bonza housemate – and we wish him a safe journey back to the land down under. G'day, mate. At least we know we can find him on Ramsay Street.

Speidi are the runner up of Celebrity Big Brother!

Well gee, dude - our American duo, Speidi, have left the Celebrity Big Brother House in second place.

It's fair to say that Spencer and Heidi had a rocky start to their Big Brother experience, after they were shamelessly sent to the basement by Rylan and Frankie on launch night. Confined with their fellow basement dwellers, they decided to hide themselves away underground, refusing to meet the other housemates in the main House. Not exactly the best first impression.

Their initial introduction to the House was a positive one, and the housemates fleetingly thought that the LA duo weren't so bad after all... Until, that is, they staged a fake walk-out which saw them back in the basement and secretly viewing the housemates. Their exit certainly got the housemates talking - and through their voyeuristic experience, they learnt that the others had some pretty unfavourable views of them. Not surprisingly, this didn't go down well with the banished duo.

The couple cemented the divide between themselves and the other housemates further when they refused to take part in most of the tasks meted out. They got involved when Big Vendor asked housemates to sing and dance for his pleasure and they donned electric shock suits (though they didn't play the game by the rules) – but for the most part their stance was non-compliance.

Speidi tried to keep their basement lodgings for as long as they could but enough was enough as far as BB was concerned. On Day 12 they were forced into a humbling return and after reuniting with the other housemates they continued to ruffle feathers. Lacey's quite normal shower habits, Frankie's indifference to their presence and Ryan's snow-excitement all felt a lashing from their tongues. Then there was their slightly callous applause when Claire didn't receive her letter from home. That caused a rift that ultimately had to be healed.

During the Last Supper task on Day 22 they made an emotional bid to win everyone round, attempting to dye all previous controversies in understandable colours. This may have come too late to win round those who've been chanting "Get Speidi out" but the compelling couple have had enough charm to survive four public votes, proving that they make great TV stars.

Rylan is the winner of Celebrity Big Brother!

Drop me out - Rylan Clark won Celebrity Big Brother!

Drama-prone Rylan took centre stage right from the off, bearing the 'burden', alongside jockey and eventual buddy Frankie Dettori,  of deciding which housemates should be deprived of the main House for their first few days. The duo took to the task with particular aplomb, chucking celebrities into the basement without hesitation and saving themselves to boot – much to the annoyance of soon-to-be sparing partners, Speidi.

When Rylan and Speidi finally met in person, it was clear that there was bad-blood between the reality TV stars, something which would reoccur throughout their time in the House. First we had the post-basement argument, and then came the Big Blogger incident, rounded-off by the biggest tiff of them all following the Diletter task. We learnt one thing from their squabbles, never call the X-Factor contestant 'fake' – unless you want a very emotional Rylan all up in your grill.

Arguments aside, Rylan was also known for his comical approach to tasks. Whether it be necking chilli chocolates to win treats, singing heart-wrenching renditions of Spandau Ballet's 'Gold' for the pleasure of Dictator Frankie or beating the Claire from Steps at her own song, Rylan always made sure he performed to his true-diva standard.

And let's not forget about his dedication to his look. If he wasn't sporting a pink onesie, Rylan could often be seen in one of his many tops-come-snoods, pouting to perfection and strutting like he was on a Milan catwalk. But his vanity didn't hold him back from being a top housemate, choosing to shave off half his beard to win Claire's letter from home – even though Speidi had a go at sabotaging his efforts.

One of the most popular housemates in the House, Rylan had a notable bond with his idol, Claire (from Steps), and an unlikely friendship with burly Razor, who he got naked with on the penultimate night for a skinny dip in the pool. These bonds were the tightest but he was there for any housemate in need of a quick cuddle and a cheeky anecdote to make them feel better. We'll miss the vivacious way he lit up our screens but know it won't be long before he's back. A personality that bubbly will always float to the top.

Celebrity Big Brother: End of series review

It all began on a chilly Thursday evening, when we welcomed our expectant eleven, Rylan, FrankieTricia, Paula, Ryan, Gillian, Sam, Lacey, Razor, Claire and Speidi. If the celebrities thought it was going to be easy, they were in for a shock, as Rylan and Frankie forced half of them downstairs to the live in the dirty basement before they'd even had a chance to catch their breath.

The first few days were blighted with basement-filled drama, with Speidi refusing to meet the other housemates and help them win hot water. This followed with Frankie switching places with the stubborn reality stars, putting himself up for nomination to win the basement dwellers freedom, before moving back upstairs. Seriously, we just couldn't nail that little jockey down.

Week 1 was rounded off nicely with the first nominations of the series, which saw Paula, Speidi and the aforementioned Frankie facing the public vote.

We rolled into Week 2, with the multi-faceted shopping task that was 'Against the odds', where we witnessed the housemates get gunged and invade each other's personal face space in the pursuit of a luxury shopping task. They won, FYI – hoorah!

The good times did not roll, however, as not long after Paula was slung out of the House, dressed in her habitual beige sheepskin coat. But this was only the start to the weeks trials and tribulations...

Bear with us as we rattle through these - we had Speidi's staged walkout, followed by face-to-face noms seeing Ryan and Sam in the firing line, a lot of voyeuristic behaviour resulting in some miffed Americans and Sam got the boot.

Deep breath...

On the eve of Sam's departure Speidi returned, causing quite the ruckus and putting Claire and Rylan up for eviction to boot. We had more noms and the housemates were told that Lacey and Speidi would join chums Claire and Rylan in the public vote. And let's not forget the moment the housemates donned Zentai suits and got shocked because, well, it's just really funny.

Phew, so that ladies and gentleman, was another week done and dusted.

Week 3 didn't escape controversy, as we said 'hello' to Dictator Frankie and another luxury food budget, and 'bye bye' to Banghard. We had two rule breaks - one that resulted in a Cockney knees up and one that had the more serious repercussions of seeing all the housemates facing the public vote. To many aghast housemates, Gillian became the fourth evictee - she can thank naughty boys Razor and Ryan for that one.

The week was dominated, however, by the uproar that was Big Blogger, which came courtesy of yours truly (that's us, the digital team!).

Speidi unwittingly dished out a few home truths to the viewing housemates and pandemonium ensued (well, a few arguments).  And then any hope of reconciliation was quashed after the debacle that was the Diletter task and that clap. Or so it seemed...

We don't mean to spoil the ending of this saga, but they made up – Yay – and the last week started on a positive.

And the good times did actually roll on this occasion, as we had the thigh-slappingly fun task that was Boys vs Girls, the raucous hen party that followed, a letter drop that warmed some cockles and Paula Hamilton fleetingly returned to shape up the shabby housemates. Gawd, it was a right hoot.

But it all came down to the night that we, and the housemates, had all been waiting for... Finale night.

Prior to their quickfire ejection, housemates were forced to wait it out and reflect on the last 23 days. After a lie-in, they were treated to a good old pampering and spent the afternoon wondering how one earth it would all turn out. They didn't have to wait long. We had a winner to announce and when the evening of Day 23 rolled around, we found out just who had scooped victory.

The first of our final five to leave the House was Razor. He walked straight into the arms of Brian and gave us a great interview. Shortly after Mr. Ruddock, Claire (from Steps) was given her marching orders, taking a highly respectable fourth place. Next out was Ryan – our lovely Aussie import taking third place – and he left the House with the kind of solid style we'd come to expect.

That left two. It had fallen to our Essex boy and our couple from The Hills to battle it out for the winner's place. When Brian announced the winner, Rylan went into quite a tizzy. The Essex Boy had beaten Speidi to the top spot. They took it in their usual, mixed, hot and cold way. We're still not sure what to make of those two. In stark contrast, Rylan gave us his signature joyful reaction. We dropped him out but we did it from the loftiest position possible.

So - Rylan Clark is the winner of Celebrity Big Brother. He'd wanted it for so long and he achieved it in quite some style. What's more, he did it Rylan Style. A deserving winner if ever we've had one!
