Day 7: California dreamin' in the basement

No sooner had they learnt that they were safe from eviction, then Speidi were called to the Diary Room to be briefed on a secret fake walk-out task. Spencer lit up like the Oxford Street lights and the Pratts swiftly brainstormed how to plausibly introduce this fake walk-out to the housemates innocently waiting outside. As things went, they played a blinder, stating that they downplayed their in-House misery so as not to encourage the British public to keep them in out of spite. It was then time for a full-on spoilt rich kid rant.

Spencer talked about missing their beach house. And separate bathrooms. And their extraordinary amount of money. It was to the credit of Rylan and Razor listening that they didn’t throw the Californians over the garden fence.

Scene set, they flounced out through the Diary Room and then back in to the newly pimped out basement. It was champagne, sushi and popcorn where before it had been dirty mattresses and misery.

"Champagne, champagne, champagne!" chanted Spencer, skipping round their digs.

They were happy for social reasons as well as materialistic ones.

“Now we know we have fans,” said Heidi with endearing happiness.

Spencer raised his glass to everyone he could think of starting with the British public and ending with Prince Harry. Not sure the younger Royal had a hand in this one.

After some preliminary feasting and rejoicing, Speidi plugged in to their superpower, a monitor and headphones connected to the House. If they’d been hoping for juicy backstabbing they were all out of luck.

“They were a lovely couple,” mused Gillian.

Lacey managed to knock their lack of cleaning. Then everyone ran out of steam.

Will the anti-Speidi discussions intensify as the secret task progresses or are these housemates just too nice for their own good? We’ll let you know.... Meanwhile it’s California dreaming on such a winter’s day.

Day 7 round-up: 1 down, 2 to go... to the basement

The day of the first Celebrity Big Brother eviction dawned causing us to evaluate how the three nominees were handling their unstable status. Speidi experienced a dash of paranoia while Paula’s encounter with the whiffy bathroomand Lacey’s waxing habits gave her reasons to hope for deliverance. After these mild wobbles, the Houseatmosphere settled into one of surprising contentedness. Who are these celebrities’ life coaches and can we talk to them?

Rylan got set a secret task, called – and we think you’ll agree our task team are master wordsmiths – Crylan Style. He had to channel his emotional X-Factor moment, shedding sympathy tears over the nominated housemates. Paula, Frankie and Speidi all bought his waterworks and won flowers and doughnuts courtesy of Rylan’s crocodile tears

After these heightened scenes, the vibe once again relaxed and Sam and Lacey regaled us with embarassing tales from the modelling scene. Did you know the smouldering Sam was the face of children’s drum kits? He still knows how to strike a drumstick-wielding pose. That’s the kind of important stuff no one ever forgets.

But the honeymoon calm couldn’t last forever, not in this House. The dashing Dowling gathered the housemates to the sofa for the results of the public vote. Frankie was the first to be saved. It was down to Paula and Speidi. Paula became the first celebrity to leave the Big Brother House. She left in an excellent floor-length coat. Many viewers would like to know where she bought it. We watched her best bits and interviewand silently thanked the housemate who taught us to reclaim a certain insult as 'Babe In Total Control of Herself'.

The drama was far from over. First came the second secret task of the day. Speidi were called to the Diary Room and given the option of staging a fake walk-out. The prospect got the usually downbeat Spencer very excited indeed. After a brief spell back in the main House setting the scene for their walk-out with a stream of diva-like complaints about the conditions, they were off. Their living room portrait went as red as the dressing gowns waiting for the duo in the newly pimped out basement where, with some champagne lubrication, they are watching the rest of the housemates on a monitor.

And even then it wasn’t over. Face-to-face nominations awaited the unsuspecting housemates in the main House. After a lot of tears, invalid reasons and glee from Speidi watching and commenting from the basement, we got our next two names to face the public vote. With six and five votes respectively, Sam and Ryan are up for eviction and you can vote now here.

Phew.
