Day 6: Shrinkers and showboaters

Whenever you throw a party, someone always throws a massive scene.

It follows that when you throw a bunch of celebrities into a House crammed with cameras there'll be fireworks - and so it's been with our latest bunch of housemates. So far those fireworks haven't caused any major injuries and everything's been rather sweet-natured, but it's fair to say some are jaunting into the limelight more often than others.

Rylan Clark, for example, is so ludicrously extroverted, every time he takes to our screens he dominates the frame by dint of that lanky frame gallivanting hither and thither. Razor fills the screen in other ways, his gruff personality expanding over time and his raucous laugh claiming all the decibels. Paula's outspoken eccentricity has got tongues wagging among the viewership and Speidi are gaining fans and developing enemies in equal measure. Then there's Lacey, who's endearing herself to viewers with her have-a-go attitude and some interesting wardrobe choices. Finally, Ryan's not so far from his onscreen Toadie persona – which means he's basically the charming everyman Neighbours viewers have grown to love over the years.

For all the showboaters, camera-hoggers and big personalities, there'll always be two or three who tend to shy away a little and wait in the wings for their big moment. As things stand on Day 6, the trio of Claire, Gillian and Tricia are quieter than most. Forming a three-way sisterhood from the first night when they were all saved from basement duties, the threesome are arguably shrinking into wallflower status more than we might've expected.

Claire's gladly taken up the role of House cook, which means she's in the kitchen more often than not, cooking up a storm and usually flanked by Tricia. Gillian hangs out with the pair of them and, though their conversations are usually sweet and interesting, it simply doesn't grab the attention as much as, say, the riotous whooping of Rylan or the gruff barking of Razor. Maybe it's just their way of fitting in, or perhaps they're biding their time before the first round of nominations gets out of the way. Speaking of which, there's someone we've not yet mentioned....

Frankie may have been centre-stage when those crucial basement decisions were made and he continued to play a huge part when the big basement swap went down. But all the same, it's fair to say that, with nearly a week gone, he hasn't really done too much. He's been charming and lovely and won the friendship of everyone in the House, but he hasn't stolen the scene like a Razor or a Rylan might do. In fact, considering he finds himself nominated ahead of a crucial vote to save, is it possible Frankie Dettori might find himself an early leaver? Is the support there to see him through?

If he doesn't hurry up and make himself more visible, it might be more likely than you think...

... ADDENDUM: We've just realised we've reached the end of this article and not mentioned Sam. We'll leave you to draw your own conclusions. Still – he's not been nominated and there's plenty of time for the Scotsman to come into his own. Plus he looks good... and that tends to work in a housemate's favour.

I`m sorry I`ve not been here to help recently. I`m having a few problems with my eldest son, who is here from France. He suffers from psychophrenia and isn`t very well at the moment. I`ll have a wee break from the updates for a bit. I`ll be back to help when I`m in a better frame of mind.

Been reading back and just seen your post, Scotty.

I hope things improve for your son really soon.

6.15pm: That's right, it's shopping list time. 45 minutes and a ÂĢ550 budget. Current debate is meat related.

With a luxury budget our housemates were looking forward to picking out this week's shopping list.
Despite ÂĢ550 not being every housemates' idea of luxury, the majority of the celebs got stuck in with Tricia bravely taking up the chalk. Ryan gallantly joined her. You knew he would though, didn't you.
Sam was first to suggest an item – a chocolate bar. He was clearly going to be a lot of help.
Speidi quickly retired to the bedroom with more pressing matters, namely a back rub for Spence. We don't want to hear any complaints from them if housemates missed off any of their fave snacks.
Paula wasn't far behind and Lacey soon chose a chat with the '80s model over the task in hand.
Meat featured heavily in the early shopping debate with Frankie proposing eight packets of mince. Razor piped up with, "I love mince," prompting Frankie to add an additional two packs.
By the time talk turned to herbs and spices, just Claire, Tricia and Ryan remained.
Housemates were reluctant to take responsibility for the maths but good old Claire gave it her best shot and just inside the 45 minute time limit, it was Rylan who picked up the chalk board and headed to the Diary Room.
Shopping has a legendary reputation for causing a good old row in the House. Will BB's delivery be the catalyst for the first proper barney of the series? We'll have to wait and see

Day 6 - So take a look at them now

As you may have noticed, BB has been putting the housemates through their paces these past couple of days. Lots of mouth to mouth and lots of messing around with balls, basically. Well, we had to get one up on the Olympics somehow.
The Against the Odds task, which began yesterday, was all about the game of chance, with the housemates playing an assortment of games to try and tip the odds in their favour.
The fun kicked off with Pass the Pass, a game essentially about passing various delicious cuisines mouth to mouth between housemates, such as raw fish, fermented duck eggs and sick bags! Yes Ambassador, we really did spoil them.
Over the day, three more tasks awaited our celebrity chancers. These involved Rylan necking chilli chocolates in the Hot Chocolate task, the housemates transferring balls from container to container using the power of smooching in Kissing Balls, and finally, Punishing Passes, where Claire was plonked in a room alone and made to listen to her hit record 5, 6, 7, 8 on loop.
The epic mission finally came to a close today. This afternoon, in Truth or Falls, Paula and Heidi were quizzed on their fellow housemates, with wrong answers resulting in the others being gunged in the garden. The day’s events were eventually collated in BB’s Big Vendor, a giant adjudicator machine.  If it spat out a green ball it meant victory, and if red, a grumpy House for the next week. Thankfully, with 194 passes, and 74 fails, the odds were in the housemates’ favour, with a 72% chance of Big Vendor delivering success, which in the end, it did, securing the celebs a luxury shopping budget, and a 100% chance of much whooping. Now those are good odds.
