Day 20: What's cooking?

Be it by choice or by necessity the boys have taken over in the kitchen.

The Situation likes to show off his 'diner' skills even when Samatha ruled the roasting tray but with her gone he has been free to go culinary crazy.

His one gripe has been that certain housemates have been a bit ungrateful. As he put together tonight's feast – fried chicken for some and spag bol for others, he muttered, "There’s only so many cups of tea and meals I can serve people who are rude about them."

Julian and Lorenzo got stuck in along with The Sitch and backseat driver Coleen helpfully pointed out the location of utensils and complimented the boys on their cooking skills – we all know how helpful it is to have a spectator watching you slave over a hot stove.

She added, "I like this House. This is one thing I could teach Sam."

Coleen’s reluctance to get stuck in can be linked to her claim not to want to "poison" anyone and whenever Sam whipped up a culinary storm in the kitchen she could be heard to comment, "I only know how to cook plain food." You can always learn Col â€“ Sam wasn’t born with a recipe book in hand. Or perhaps she was.

Julie, who had turned up her nose at the chicken, has yet to go as far as making herself a cup of tea so is certainly not a hot contender for House chef.

Will the boys proactively keep them in the game or could it be a recipe for disaster?

Day 20: BBTV News leads to trouble in America

An item read out by anchor Julie Goodyear during a BBTV news bulletin has led to unrest between American housemates, a source reported earlier.
Wearing a sleek brunette wig, Julie read out a quote from Prince Lorenzo:
"I like The Situation but I feel like he's thrown me under a bus."
Along with three other news items concerning the backstabbing behaviour of the remaining housemates, this revelation was broadcast on a screen in the main House. Housemates watched while consuming a man-made TV dinner off their knees.
According to bystanders, their chewing became mechanical as awkward home truths entered their mists.
Coleen, 47, said: "Everyone's talked about everyone in the House."
Ms Nolan is a noted television personality with years of experience of playing the diplomat. Experts have suggested that this remark was designed to exert damage control over potentially explosive remarks. Yet, a situation was brewing that was out of her hands...
We're bored of writing in a news style now...  Basically, The Sitch and Prince-y had a big ol' debrief about The Prince's remark which dates back to something The Situation said to departed Danica. It was not a remark that particularly helped The Prince's chances with the glamour girl, in fact, it was so unhelpful that the royal compared it to being thrown under a bus.
"Danica's getting in trouble and she's not even here," remarked Coleen wryly, as the Americans resolved their differences via the fine art of blackening the absent one's name.
While all this went down, new anchor Julie Goodyear calmly ate her tea, no doubt relishing the cat her Big-Brother-enabled bulletin had thrown among the pigeons just as much as her spag bol.

Big Brother has tried terribly hard to ruffle feathers tonight via the medium of the BBTV task. For the BBTV News, Julie became the mouthpiece for lots of unflattering news items revolving round verbatim quotes of housemate-on-housemate backstabbing.
The Corrie bar-wench had already become persona non grata in the House as five nominations testifies. Making her the bearer of bad news, some of which featured herself in the role of ear-burner (Listen up Harvey. Bet Lynch is not a 'disgrace') was the equivalent of getting a giant whisk and applying it to the ambience.
All it took was for Coleen to notice the "assassin's smile" that danced on Julie's lips as she relayed the news and Big Brother's messenger had become eligible for a shooting.
Yet Julie was having none of it.
In the bedroom with a concerned Julian she assured care-y Clary, "I'm dealing with it in my own way. I won't be a squawking wreck."
"You're made of sterner stuff," said the comedian doubtfully, troubled by the notion that his pal is becoming isolated. "It's very calm out there," he said hoping to coax her outside with the others.
Julie went a step further by refusing to acknowledge any form of situation "I've not got a problem. It's quite peaceful here," she said.
And lo and behold she went on to put her money where her mouth was, strolling outside to socialise with her housemates.
It's the last night before another two leave the Big Brother House yet trouble wasn't coming from Julie and it wasn't coming from Lorenzo or Martin either. After the former's kerfuffle with The Situation, he mellowed out superbly while Martin is so relaxed he's barely spoken for hours. Some people are so laid back they're basically horizontal.
So bad luck, Big Bro, you're going to have get even more dastardly if you want to rile up these cats. Of course, there's another day of this task to come. Perhaps we have spoken too soon....

Day 20: BBTV will continue after the break

We all like a nice summary right? Restores a spot of order to the disorderly environment we call Celebrity Big Brother and – if you'll allow us a philosophical moment – life. With that in mind, here's how things stand at the end of day one of the BBTV task, the full brief of which we took the trouble of describing in detail here.

Firstly, The Situation and Harvey stared in a celebrity special of 'Ask 100' quiz show.  Harvey won this as he answered 4 out of the 8 questions correctly compared to The Situation who answered 3 out of 10 questions correctly.  Housemates passed this task as the viewers predicted that Harvey would win.

Then came the sublimely adorable, ridiculously funny Children’s TV Show 'The Growlers'. With Lorenzo as storyteller Johnny Tickles and Martin and Ashley as Itchy and Twitchy Growler, the living characters of the show, there was mayhem. Garlic got drunk, custard was spilled and there was rough and tumble galore while the Growlers were encased in yellow and purple fluffy costumes.

Housemates will find out if they have passed this task tomorrow.

As a sombre comedown from all this tomfoolery, BBTV News arrived in two hits. The first saw anchorwoman Julie reading a report that named and shamed gossipy housemates. That went down like a lead balloon. The second news bulletin was a lighter affair featuring a letter from home. Housemates have passed this section so far but there are more hits to come tomorrow.

As for tomorrow, we can also expect to see Coleen and Julian fronting BBTV’s shopping channel ‘Big Brother’s Big Deals’. But will the housemates get a big deal with tomorrow's shopping budget? That result is performance-based. Tune in tomorrow to see how  that one works out...

Day 20 round-up

Day 20 was coloured by task activity and surprising degree of goodwill. Despite Julieconfessing a desire to stay and make it to the final, she and co-nominees, The Prince and Martin, were a trio of tranquillity.

Big Brother's London bruvs Harvey and Ashley enjoyed a judo session and Julian added slang to his sizeable vocabulary. He wasn't too busy with education to forget about Julie and made the time to tell his friend, who's had a bit of a rollercoaster, that he'll be there for her(when the rain starts to pour) he'll be there for her (like he's been there before).

While we waited for the two-day shopping task to kick into gear, we got a crack team of analysts to decide which of the celebs were living up to their early promise. You may be surprised at their conclusions.

And then it was upon us, BBTV, the TV show within a TV show. Firstly, The Situation and Harvey competed in the 'Ask 100' quiz show.  Harvey took The Situation down to funky town, by which we mean he won. This was fortunate as the rest of the housemates predicted as much, bringing them all a step closer to that luxury budget they do so crave.

The next instalment of BBTV was thoroughly enjoyable and thoroughly ridiculous. We knew'The Growlers' was going to be a goodie from the moment Martin and Ashley emerged in fluffy purple and yellow costumes. Lorenzo was a dream in bright pinks and oranges. Cue carnage that probably wasn't suitable for the kids television slot it was aimed at.

All of this had made our housemates hungry so the men whipped up a culinary stormJulie and Martin were hungry for the past as well and had a nice reminisce about their childhoods. Then it was time for the BBTV News.... The first of many bulletins saw anchorwoman Julie reading a report that named and shamed gossipy housemates. This led to a mild fracas between The Situation and Prince-y

The second bulletin was a lighter affair which featured Julie reading a letter from home which put everyone in a more mellow frame of mind, causing the day to end in much the same chilled tone that it began.

Today will see the conclusion of the shopping task (here's a summary of how it's looking at the half-way stage) and shall be the last full day before the departure of two of our dear housemates. Will the trio show the same tranquility or will they crack under the approaching spectre of eviction? We just don't know and are gnawing our nails off with anticipation.
