I'm seriously peed off TBH. I was bought Adeles 21 for a pressie today - it is scraTCHED FROM THE  first play - impossible to move it on (like on vinyl) you have to miss out the whole track.

i bought an Alfie Boe CD earler thios week from Amazon - first two tracks stick (I'll be sending it backl)

I well remember all the hype when CD's came about - they were supposed to be virtually indestructable - I remember somewone saying you could eat your dinner off them and they'd still play. WHAT EFFIN RUBBISH!

I know I should probably move on to i pods and downloads etc but .................................when you pay for something you should expect quality shouldn't you?

^^^^^^ this. It's almost definitely your CD player. You might have to hunt around to find one of the CD's that cleans it for you, a lot of places don't sell them any more. I've just been told it was Smiths or Staples we got our last one.

Only to find out it's scratched and plays the first verse over and over

Cds are digitally recorded moosic as are mp3s. If your mp3 is sounding crappy, rip it at a higher bit rate.

A 128 bit rate aac audio file is just about cd quality if the levels are all set at zero

I can see how spit-roasting them might have caused problems  I used to love the album covers, you felt like you'd bought something. Then suddenly you get this poxy little CD case thing

Yep, and the double albums (I still call them LPs) had lyrics in them..and everything.....And Prom (can I call you that?), just cos we had an open fire and at times liked to roast our chestnuts, we were poor and used the nearest thing.....a Led Zepplin LP to rest them on......

Feel free, I've been called worse (regularly) I've got to say, if you must sacrifice an LP in the interests of chestnut-roasting Led Zeppelin would have been the first to go for me too

I prefer  bought CD's too.Mainly because I can't be arsed to fuss around the comp stuff..actually I'm a comp dunce and trying to download stuff is a pain I can do without. My music system is pretty old compared to what folk have these days.A 16 year old SONY system,it has the twin tape decks on it,redundant now of course, but the sound the amps pound out is still first class. It's rather neat size wise really. It cost ÂĢ300 then.

Oh! they're worth a mint now apparently! I was around in the days of cassette decks and styluses encased in silver, like. The days of taping songs off the radio and trying to cut it just before the DJ started talking over them and when double cassette decks came in it was brill cos you could buy your album on cassette from Our Price, take it home, record it to a blank TDK-90 and then take the original album back, say you didn't like and get your money back.

(Or you could chore it from Our Price, tape it, take it back and get a tenner free )
