American reality TV star Dog The Bounty Hunter has been denied entry to the  UK ahead of his rumoured appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

The 59-year-old – real name Duane Chapman – was reportedly set to become a  housemate on the show’s new series, which kicks off this Wednesday at 9.00pm on  Channel 5.

But according to The Guardian, the UK Border Agency has refused to grant him  a visa over a murder conviction he incurred in 1976.

Chapman was jailed for five years over the shooting of drug dealer Jerry  Oliver, even though he was waiting in a car while a friend pulled the trigger.  He was eventually let out after serving eighteen months of his sentence.

According to the broadsheet, Chapman’s application was supported by a police  officer involved in the case, who described his part in the shooting as ‘minor’.

However, authorities rejected it as his conviction was ‘not spent’ and the  purpose of his visit was not of a ‘sufficiently compelling nature’.

Although he was unable to comment on a potential Celebrity Big Brother  appearance due to confidentiality orders, he told the Guardian: “I’d like to see  your country and I have a lot of fans there and I’d like to meet them. I have  always wanted to come here.”

‘Dog’ is best known for his popular reality show – which was recently axed  after eight seasons – following him and his family as they set about catching  criminals and fugitives.

Oh that's ridiculous!! so they've not taken into account all the charity work he's done to support kids who've had bad childhoods among other things, and all the offenders he's caught and even with them he's tried to help them get back on the straight and narrow, very annoyed he won't be on the show! can't say I'm bothered by the others who are supposed to be on, some of which I've never heard of, as usual, lol.

Celebrity Big Brother housemates have begun arriving at the house ahead of  Wednesday night’s launch.

 

Stars were not-so-secretly smuggled into hotels around the house in Elstree  with some rather awful disguises.

Rumours and leaks have already revealed who most of the housemates are when  it comes to Wednesday’s opening show, but bosses are still keen to try and keep  some of group a surprise for viewers.

However if the balaclava covering ex-Eastenders star Cheryl Fergison is  anything to go by, they’re not doing a great job.

Celebrity Big Brother 2012 starts on Channel 5 on Wednesday night.
