Caroline Aherne has died from cancer, she was only 52.
The Royle Family, Mrs Merton and also narrated Gogglebox.

Oh Dear Lord, no. Caroline Aherne was such a talented and funny lady. She was doing the narration for Gogglebox only recently. Had hoped she'd be doing more television work. God rest her soul xx
I am quite shocked by Caroline Aherne news, I actually thought she was a little younger and had no idea she was ill. I loved the Royle Family and the Mrs Merton Show. Big loss.
The rather odd thing is that I actually picked up the Special Edition 3 disc blu-ray for The Wicker Man yesterday as it is on sale in HMV, I did not buy it but I think I will pay a visit tomorrow and pick it up.
Yes EC she has been quite ill for a couple of years or so. What a shame. No age.

He was also one of the script writers of the science fiction film "Silent Running".

EC, one of the other script writers of Silent Running was Steven Bochco who subsequently became one of the major creators and writers of US police series - Hill Street Blues, L A Law, NYPD Blue and others.
And although Silent Running is Douglas Trumbull's most important film as a director, his work on special effects on science fiction films is as important as anyone in the history of film (2001, Close Encounters, the first Star Trek film, and Blade Runner)
