Now I did quite like Steps in the late 90s, (preferred S club though!) and my girls loved them... they were only little then (about 3 to 6 during Steps heyday...) and we saw them twice in concert, but I can't see ANY point in them reforming...  It's like, the moment has gone..........I mean, who is going to be interested in them now?  My girls are now 15 and 16, and wouldnt be remotely interested as they have moved on and like totally different music now, and I am 40-something and have no interest, because I wasnt a HUGE fan to start with: it was my girls.. (and I would wager that a lot of people over 30 who were parents of young kids then would say the same... it was the kids who liked them more.....)and no way are the younger generation of under 13s (who were pretty much the audience then,) going to be interested in a bunch of middle aged/slightly podgy has-beens who arent even releasing new stuff... just releasing a greatest hits album full of stuff that was out before they were born.

I'm confused, because we bought their hits album GOLD about 8 or 9 years back...

So this new one must be all the same songs, coz they have had no hits since... so the 'new' album is just old songs, which old fans would already have..... so I am not sure who STEPS reformed is going to appeal to... I will be shocked if it revives their career like it did with Take That... (and at least TT had NEW songs!)  This will be like the Spice Girls reunion: pointless and shortlived.  The five of them must be hard up... Still, it makes a change to see Claire Richards on telly for something other than the battle with her weight.

Pfft! S Club 7 were far better....

Nooooooooooo!

7 (ish) years on I still get S Club flashbacks..    imagine..  Wembley Stadium.. rammed full of pre-adolescent girls...   merchandise stalls every corner you turned pushing over priced S Club toot at you...  and to top it off..   the supporting group were S Club Juniors

My daughter liked S Club better than Steps too..      but she had the excuse of only being 11.

*ignores Pengy's post*

anyway..   did you know they have just released a greatest hits cd..

I'd buy it if I didn't already have the songs I like on my iTunes library (&.. I didn't buy them..    I just got them off the various "Now thats what I call music" CDs that the kids have.

I am watching the "Steps Reunion" thing on the telly though...

these are my preferences & opinions..  (cos I know you are all dying to know )

H - spineless, egotistical, cowardly, dickhead..   hungry for fame... but only so long as everybody loves him..    if so much as one person doesn't like him he runs off sobbing 'poor me poor me'

Clare - I can't help it.. I really like Clare & I think she had a rough ride from the other girls (who gave her a hard time cos the producers always wanted her to sing lead vocals cos her voice is the best by far)

Faye - I like her too..    but she's big on playing the victim card, when I think she was probably a bit of a cow

Lisa - mediocre singer..    and I suspect the instigator of a lot of the bitching.   I get the feeling she knew how to get Faye riled up..  and they would have bitch fests about Clare.

Lee - hahaha poor poor bloke..    3 bitching wimmin & H..     There must have been times when he questioned whether there were easier ways to make a few quid

I'm actually thinking of buying my son and his partner tickets to a Steps Concert for a Christmas pressie. I've done X Factor, Strictly and Dancing on Ice in the past .....................I'll have to sniff around a bit but I think thirty year old gay men are probably the target market .....................he can dance their dances better than they can.
