they are really peeing me off  yes i know i'ts getting work done for free and i do appreciate it but i hardly ever ask for any repairs to be done *i try to do most myself*

But they are really taking the ***** about fitting me a new front door, i haven't been able to get out of it since early January, a bloke came out, kick ed it to open it and decided yes i did need a new front door and i would be getting a PVC one  then he decided he would plane abit off the bottom to tie me over till the new door came, he took off that much i could post the yellow pages through the gap  after waiting 4 weeks i rang up and asked if they knew how much longer i would have to wait as the snow coming through the gap was becoming a drift in the hallway  was told he hadn't ordered a new door he'd said the job was completed

So the task had to start all over again, man comes out scratches he's head and says you need a new door, i'll order you one  i rang them a few weeks later to ask if the'd got a date when i could expect the new door, was told the job had to completed by the 16th April  yesterday my neighbour stopped me and said a bloke had been and measured her doors and she will be getting a new front and back door  so i rang again and asked for a more pacific date for fitting, only to be told the door hasn't  been ordered *bangs head against the wall smilie*

i've put in a complaint  rant over  *and breathe*

I don't know the procedure on the mainland but here mention it's a violation of health and safety and they soon get the finger out ,as far as I can remember it is 3 working days for assessment.....It is actually a H&S violation and they are legally responsible if they are putting your family at risk if say god forbid there was a fire ....Call them again on Monday Aimee and tell them unless they replace the door within a reasonable time frame you will be seeking legal advice....Good luck.

i'm not a council tennat now...tbh it was easier when i was ..my landlord is fighting in afghanistan! so the agency is doing their best at slacking

same here, it being an end house it gets all  the weather, i've had to fill the gap with newspaper and an old pair of jogging bottoms, the wall paper is falling off the wall it's that damp,  *i've ripped all the paper off it looked so bad* had the heating engineers out yesterday to survey what new heating i need, he said daughters room could have one, no to my bedroom, no to the bathroom and no to the hallway, i'm getting 3 in total  my neighbour got 7

Lee, i'm going to go down that route

Good luck Aimee....Don't hold back and don't feel intimidated by contacting you environmental health dept....When you ring your council on Monday ask to speak to a senior housing officer, don't be fobbed off, be assertive and leave them under no illusions you don't mean business
Thanks  i'll tell them i'm going to set you onto them  you seem to know what your on about

Aimee tbh they probably know by the time your local MP's secretary schedules an appointment etc it's buying them time unless your MP operates an open surgery which can still take time for them to get the wheels in action....Your environmental health office is only a phone call away and trust me local council housing and private landlords dread them.

There seems to be such a lot of incompetence in big companies. Also a lot of zombies and people who cannot use their own initiative and common sense.
There are also a lot of "men who come to look".
I don't know what their proper title is, but you must have seen many of them - "there was a man who came to look".
It must be a good job, this `man who came to look`, because there rarely has to be a satisfactory outcome, they frequently don't have answers, yet they are obviously very important.
Yet I have never seen "man who comes to look" jobs advertised.

Aww Aimee i really hope they get it sorted soon mate, some good advice in this thread. I find with places like that when you ring and 'ask' when your X is being done you tend to get fobbed off, if you ring and TELL them you are in need of a new front door, you have had 2 inspectors out to see it over the past X amount of months and both agreed but seemed incapable of doing the paper work to order your new door.

Ask the person on the phone to order your new door there and then, they will say they can't then ask to speak to someone who can! Dont get off the phone until you have a result and having another inspector come out to look at it isnt a result, but if thats the best you can get make sure you see the paper work filled out for your new door... maybe even get a  copy of it?

aye, my council are helping us with this landlord hun. we were made homeless so the council helped us get this place, and as we are on benefits atm they pay housing benefit..so do 3 monthly checks. they came almost 2 months ago and so due another. this house is ok apart from the fact that when we had a new boiler and radiators fitted we have problem running the hot tap....it's BEYOND slow lol...and the shower doesn;t work because of that.....cant get hold of the agency! nor can the council really :/ not had our boiler checked for just over a year so the council are going to do it and send a bill to agency lol.

the house with a broken window for a year was a council house though.
