I can't see Paraguay beating Spain... If the spanish do their homework and put a stop to Germanys counter attacks then they are snookered
Mr stonks thinks Spain will lift the cup....

If you can't be glad for someone, don't be mean spirited. Everyone else has either had the decency to congratulate us and those that don't like us have said nothing. I just don't get it
Im not glad or pissed off? A City player is in the side so I wouldnt mind if Germany did win. Im not being mean spirited at all, I just don't bend over for Germany like everyone else does

But he's not English. I bet you're one of those footie fans who are more into the PL rather than the World Cup. If so, I don't get it because the PL is all fine and dandy, but wouldn't you like to be able to say that your team is good enough to beat the best in the world?

He doesnt have to be English, but im proud to say he plays for our club. I am more into club football than international, I find it more competitive and more tense. Would I like England to win the WC? Yes, but if I had to choose between Manchester City winning the Barclays Premier League/Champions League or England winning the WC... I wouldnt even need to think about that one.

Just as I thought. If the World Cup was being played out every year, who would you want to win? The league is great, but the World Cup is an affirmation that the countries can put together a team that works and has some cohesion. England doesn't do that, you have to ask yourself why, no?

So you'd put a load of overpaid over-rated foreign players over your fellow countrymen  representing your own country against the best in the world? There's absolutely no logic to that whatsoever. I will never understand anyone who puts club before country.

Depends, if your talking about that ping pong yawnion stuff than no way At club level its like watching paint dry, I went to watch Sale Sharks few times, even have a friend currently in the academy. The only time I find it interesting is because of the Rugby World Cup, the atmosphere and numbers is attracts makes it that good.

Rugby League I enjoy more, far more skillful... just a shame it doesnt attract the numbers it deserves. Its not a wealthy sport, the RFL struggle to fund and advertise the game

England, could also possibly add Denmark as my mother is Danish. But as they were out I would follow the team that I find plays the most attractive football or I would back the lads from my club.

Meaty, just bcause you think most of the english fans would agree with you doesn't make it right. You should be proud of your country, not just you region. The PL just promotes players who are doing it for the money, not the glory. The glory only happens when you have to defend your couintry.
Hear hear!!!
I think the trouble is with  the England team is that they are all PL players and therefore are all flipping prima donnas.
Therefore the concept of teamwork is alien to them. BUT I would refute Mr Meatandpotatopie's claim of club before country. Most TRUE football fans would always want to see their national team do well.

Proud of my country? Il support them of course... but its hard to back them after seeing what some of them get up to outside of international football, just makes you think they are complete nobs. Its like Rooney, last season he scored against us at COMS and taunted the fans, its difficult to get behind him in the world cup when he acts a right tw*t, its the same with our players aswell.

Thats your opinion of course, mine is different to that.

Well there are lots of footie fans in SA in the moment who are all trying to represent their country not the club they live near or have defended all their lives. I do understand that it's difficult to back Rooney when he's been a complete twit, but when it comes to the WC, you surely must feel some solidarity. I do for Germany and I haven't lived there for 31 years.
