What the yellow circles, squares and triangles are on road signs. I have noticed quite a few in the Lincoln area (and elsewhere) - they mean nothing to me - anyone have an idea? I've Googled but can't really pin it down.

I think its something to do with different routes? I know thats not much help lol

No - the symbols themselves are yellow.
Thanks anyway - someone suggested they may be specialist delivery routes relating to industry but - I don't know!
Those are diversion routes. If a road has to be shut they can divert you by instructing you to follow a certain route, i.e. the triangle
I only know this because I've had 2 occasions where I had to be diverted
