If you're on Chrome, then AdBlock is pretty good 

And on FF the Adblock Plus 2.4 seems trouble-free, good luck.

Yup.. uninstall it and install Windows 7 instead !  

Strangely I have never used one and don't suffer from them.

Apparently win 8.1 puts the toolbar/start bar back at bottom of screen Soozy but that's just what someone told me.

To be honest it is having a rough old time is Win8. It would seem to me that as a mass operating system Windows could be on a long term decline. With Apple having success in trying to converge desktop and mobile device OS's and Android make very large gains in all areas of mobile device, Microsoft look like they are facing some tough competition.

How many people now use just mobile devices instead of a desktop or they use a tablet.

Desktop sales are showing a decline.

Don't d/load 8.1 yet Sooz. There's too many glitches in it apparently. I'm on Wndows 8 and while I don't think it's as bad as everyone says they've deffinately made it harder to use. 

Just take your time finding your way around and give us a shout if you need help. I'm sure between us we can do it

I still hate Win8 but I'm sort of used to hating it now.  I'd use my ipad but prefer a lappy so I suppose I should really uninstall and get Win 7.

Oooo Cosi, I've read/seen stuff that says it could knacker your pooter if you roll it back to 7. I don't want you to come unstuck

I got a bloke in, Sprouty.  He tweaked it and made my home page and the layout just like my old lappy.  It does for me, so no, I won't be bothering to do anything unless he does it for me

I'm very, very slowly getting used to it but really don't like it. If I could get rid and go back to 7 I would - wouldn't have a clue where to start though and certainly couldn't stand buggering up my new lappy.

Incidentally since I've installed the ad blocker everything seems a bit more perky - it was very clunky!

Soozy, get a techy bod round for an hour.  He'll understand what you want and it doesn't cost that much either.  Also, they don't expect you to be Net Nerd Ned - that's why we employ them!
