ahhh...  you're not doing it right...

a) bath, exfoliate, shave, exfoliate,
b) moisturise everywhere...   give it an hour or two to sink in
c) uber moisturise knees, elbows, anywhere else with dry skin,
d) with latex gloves on apply liberally all over apart from knees and elbows
e) with a cotton bud swipe backs of knees
f) with just a hint of tan residue on gloves...  lightly glide over knees & elbows.
e) then slide down each glove & with the other hand wipe down the backs of hands.
g) take off gloves
f) with cotton buds wipe from hairline (on face)...   and from eyebrows.

then... .just do the sumo walk around the house for a couple of hours... not touching anything

Oh dear GOD!

I've had some right fake tan disasters in the past. My nugget of wisdom, do not apply the same day you are due to present an award on stage in front of glaring lights, cameras and 1200 people There's still one floating about of me in a knee length dress. Arms, neck and decolletage fine, but legs look like I've got some kind of foreign disease

Another good tip, if you have ended up looking like streaky bacon, the quick way to remove it is to use an exfoliating puff (the wiry ones)

Christ on a bike Do people actually bother to do this, or am I just the laziest person ever?! I could never be bothered with all that faffing about

Me neither. No wonder the one and only time I tried it my legs looked  like somrthing unimagineable. My daughter gave me the Johnsons stuff the night before our holiday and told me it was 'virtually' impossible to mess up. I don't suppose it's a great idea to apply it just before bed and half cut
