My old surname was Norman French and was an absolute bugger to say because it used the 'champ' that you find in des champs or champange and so looked nothing like it was spelt. Yes, it was a bit annoying to have it constantly mispronounced and occasionally have the piddle taken out of it but hell that's life and I got over it.
