I think some small and subtle facial piercings are nice (eyebrow, nose), as long as it's not a mugful of ironmongery.
Totally agree on all the rest, though Thumbs Up

It'd be like wearing a balaclava when trying on an expensive diamond ring, you can see why a shop assistant might be wary letting you put it on your hand when you could bolt for the door.

yep good points EXCEPT I was wearing an OPEN face helmet cause I dont wear the full face type, my face was clearly visable, the guy was an arsehole and did it because he was a twat,

and whats the percentage? from the hudreds of thousands of "bikers" in this country how many are going to steal petrol?
yet ALL of us are singled out, and have to convince some "joe blogs" in a fuel station that we are NOT a thief, BEFORE he will serve us?
as I said there are PLENTY of fuel outlets who DONT have this attitude, and THEY can have MY cash, Nod

HAHA I did indeed many years ago, both as a "stagehand/roadie" and building stages for outdoor events, sometimes the two would overlap, as in, we would be there 3 weeks before the show, and a week after, build the stage, then work on the show set up, then tear it all down again afterwards,
log time ago now though, I did my last "gig" in november 1989 Big Grin

But I don't believe we should ban them. Doing so would make us seem as dictatorial as the mullahs who insist women should cover themselves up from head to toe. Although there ARE plenty of Muslim countries where wearing them is not acceptable - Turkey has banned them - I think we should be a little more tolerant.

However, in situations where identity and security are issues, such as banks or airports, I think it's reasonable to expect them to be removed. You wouldn't walk up to a bank teller or airline check-in desk wearing a ski mask, and burkhas are no different.

Likewise, if you feel uncomfortable having to speak to a doctor, teacher or someone else in a professional situation who is wearing a burkha, they should remove it. We are a face-to-face society, and people's attitudes and beliefs should accommodate this.

I agree with everything you say here Deman. Personally, I find the Burkha every bit as offensive as Page Three. I would never insist on a ban as I believe people should be free to express themselves however they wish, although by that chain of though I find it odd that it's not acceptable to be naked in public, but I do think some restriction should be put in place for security/communication issues. I also feel that many, although not all, women who wear the burkha are pressured into doing so, by peer pressure and the acceptance of cultural norms.

Maybe women should be banned from wearing trousers too and forced to show their legs whether they want to or not. Disappointed

They already do that in many schools Nod

That's true. I remember being told when I was at school that we had to wear gym skirts to play hockey outside even though it was snowing, while the boys were allowed to wear tracksuits. Mad

This sounds quite narrow minded- it isn't really I understand the reason behind the Burkha and all, but I get scared when I see women with them on, I don't assume they are bombers or anything like that but the sense of not knowing what they look like and they fact they are hiding their face pits me at unease.

(f there are any Islamic people on here I apologise if I offend)
