Just saw this on DS....

quote:
new version of Buffy The Vampire Slayer is being planned for the big screen, claims The Hollywood Reporter.

Fran Rubel Kuzui, who holds the rights to the franchise, has announced that she is hoping to resurrect the character with Vertigo Entertainment without the involvement of creator Joss Whedon.

"It was [Vertigo's] interest in taking Buffy into a new place that grabbed us," she explained.

"Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point and this seems like the moment to do this."

Kuzui added that she has not ruled out the possibility of inviting Whedon to participate, but confirmed that the movie will have no connection to the TV series and that supporting players including Angel, Willow, Xander and Spike will not be involved in the plot.

Whedon, who wrote the script for the 1992 movie starring Kristy Swanson, later revived the character for the highly successful cult series of the same name. The show, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, ran from 1997 until 2003.

Now seriously - who'd watch that with no-one from the series in it? The movie that preceeded the series was a huge failure!!

I think they should leave well enough alone.. i'm just starting season 6 on Buffy and am still fuming they didnt leave it be when she died in the end of Season 5....

HOWEVER! If they secured the cast (all of them) to return, then you could expect me outside a cinema in a sleeping bag, 6 months before its due for release... lol x

I loved Buffy, and Angel too.

I can't imagine any movie without at least Willow, Giles, Spike (although to be fair he is toast now), Angel, hell even Xander.

Is SMG meant to take the lead roll?

Plus, I wouldn't want it to be a scary film - Joss had it just right for TV where there was no real blood or guts, just a cheesy show with some good old vampire slaying.

Plus, David Borean-well you know who I mean.... well it's worth watching just for him hubba hubba.

I loved the grrrr arrrrrr bit at the end of Buffy. Nod Hope they put that at the end of the film Big Grin
Towno :)

I like season 4, it had some of my fav episodes like Hush.

Also liked 2, 3 and 5.

7 was ok, 6 was bleh!

3 is my favourite... when they give Buffy the "Class Protector" award at the Prom...I cried like a little baby! Crying

Yeah, that was cool! God I miss Buffy & Angel... nothing else like it around. Charmed kinda filled a gap, but it didn't have the random funnies in it that Buffy had.

I think the idea of a new film is crap btw... the first film was crap... any new film would be crap. Let it be.

I think the best episode ever is the season finale... when she jumps off the scaffolding, to take Dawns place as the key! (i don't recognise season numbers... just episodes)... me and Molly howled and sobbed and laughed at us howling and sobbing! A true mother daughter bonding moment! Laugh

Oh, and when she shaggeroo'd Angel for the first time... and he went all Angelus!

I've just watched that, The Gift its called "death is my gift" and all that jazz... was brilliant that episode, the end when she talks to Dawn up on the scaffolding and when she jumps we hear what she told her, Willow crying, Spike sobbing and the look on Gile's face looking at her body...oh lawd am off again! Crying
