So . . . OPRAH WINFREY has banned the word "bitch" from her TV network
She says her netwotk will be positive, entertaining and not tearing people down
Others say sometimes people "need to be called out" ... what ever that means in English

What if there is a segment about lady dogs?
You couldn't keep calling them Lady Dogs....that's just bizarre. Oprah needs to check herself before she wrecks herself.

its far too mild and should be replaced with far worse!!!
Is that the only word she has banned? There are loads of other negative words she should consider banning too if she wants positivity

Better than
Check yourself before you wet yourself LOL
Hahahaha
I wish her luck with that!
when we were LUT'ing over on C4 we daredn't use the word bitch, as in the verb to bitch (cos the mods wouldn't confirm we could use it without fear of being banned".. the alternatives used to sound obscene.. "lady dogging" used to get used quite a lot!
Bee hatch.
think her ego is a bit overdone...... shall we ban all negative words? sounds like a dull as dishwater network.... it will be the Big Brother 4 of the TV channels
Talking of naughty words ... we have an American girl staying with us at the moment and she casually came out with that C word last night
She was amazed that we were so shocked ... then we overheard her on the phone and she called her mother it
Surely it isn't accepted anywhere? Is it?
It wouldn't be in my house. I think I'd be telling her too.

I did.
After I had had a quiet guffaw at my son and daughter's shocked faces
LOL
My English friends are VERY offended by the C word but it usually just flies out of my mouth (or fingers) when I'm in a rage.

No it isnt!! Try calling an American a bitch tho, they dont like it. Very offensive in their land. But to call your mother a c, is off the scale

In the interests of research I shall call her a bitch tonight and let you know how it goes
If I'm still standing
She's a lovely girl - that's why it was so shocking

It's possibly one of the worst words in the English language. I don't like the word in the title of the thread either

No need for either IMO, good luck
I don't like it used aggressively, but it's quite funny otherwise.
