No they didn't. They did it for themselves ......and good on them.

I was trying to say in 'type speak' that youths of today and of yesterday are products of the adults raising them.....

Diversity and other keen and enthusiastic youths of now and then are great....

I was reply ing to Darlo ..............you just got in the way Wink

sorry but it really irritates me when folks say ...................ooooh they were doing it for the youth, or they were doing it for knife/gun crime etc. It's quite simply a load of b***ox - they are there for themselves.................end of.

Hopefully yes .......and maybe 2 Grand and Su Bo will inspire older folk and Stavros &son will inspire familes etc. It's not all about the young folk you know .............sometimes older folk need inspiration.

The X Factor is exclusively for the young .......it's nice to have a show that encompasses all ages ..............in saying that - I'm really not sorry that Diversity won.

Nod, the older acts were great I know it's not all about the youth, not that stupid lol it's good that all ages are being represented in a great way.

I fully understand, I as a 'youth' rebelled, but it was against 'adults, parents'....not against my peers, I don't understand the streets these days......'Mods/Rockers'..fought but it was different, can't type it into feelings, but I was never scared to walk alone at night......

Well thats it for another year then. Nod
I thought diversity and flawless were both superb Thumbs Up .
I laughed my head off when the irish dancers came on with stavros flatley. Big Grin
I wondered if they won would Michael Flately himself appear with them before the queen? Eeker Laugh
It was a great final anyway and I agree with some posters that it was probably best that Susan Boyle didn't win as the pressure and hype on her has been tremendous.
Me and my mate voted for the two top winning acts tonight. Thumbs Up
I wonder which won had the deciding factor? Laugh

Thank GOD Susan Boyle did not win; the backlash and hatred she would have received would have been horrendous, as some people have been utterly VILE about that poor woman this past week.

Some folk simply despise people becoming successful and being popular, as it irks them that someone is making something of their lives, whilst they have nothing better to do, than sit at the computer keyboard all day, punching in spiteful, vitriolic messages about people who don't deserve it, just because they are making something of themselves and their life. The resentment and hatred simmers inside them, and they can do little other than post putrid messages about someone who is doing better in life than them.

Even though Susan was extremely gracious in defeat, and actually looked HAPPY that Diversity won; there were still people saying 'she looked angry, she looked mad, and why did she have to show off her leg?' Aren't the Susan Boyle-haters happy and satisfied that she didn't win? You got your wish; the woman you despise so much did not WIN. Hope you're happy now. Roll Eyes

In my honest opinion; I have a very strong suspicion that it was fixed for Susan Boyle to come second. Because, not only did she look massively relieved, and pleased when she heard Diversity won; but in addition, she had actually threatened to pull out earlier in the week because of all the pressure and the spiteful mean things that were being said about her.

So I reckon she said she will come to the final as long as she does not win. As good as Diversity were (and they were magnificent,) I find it hard to believe that they got more votes than Susan Boyle. (I am sure someone will come along and comment with something like 'they won, get over it, deal with it,' and so on and so on; ) but I still reckon it was fixed for Susan Boyle to come second. Thank God she did. Her life would have been a living hell if she had won; the Susan Boyle haters would have made sure of that!

And thank God Julian the sax player didn't win; nice man but what a dull and boring act! Sleepy Stavros Flately were fab, 2grand weren't very good and thank God Hollie Steele didn't win. Also, that 'dancer' (Aiden,) was utter shite. Thank God HE didn't win!

No matter what the outcome, you can bet Susan Boyle will have a much more successful career than Diversity OR Julian Smith. Diversity were one of the best dance troupes I have EVER seen, and kudos on them for coming 'first,' but I think there is only so far they can go. Susan Boyle will be around for a long long time after Diversity have disappeared from the scene. . Smiler

Storm, I was the one who made the leg comment -I do not despise/hate Susan Boyle AT ALL, I actually thought she was v good - and said so on here. I also happen to be v successful in my chosen career and have plenty to do thanks... I just happened to want Julian to win, v simply because I liked him the best and would have liked to see him get a break. You take the moral high ground re people being spiteful/knocking Susan then do so yourself about other contestants Confused

don't know but I only found out last night that she was deprived of oxygen at birth, I did think she was a bit eccentric. She's been put in an odd position via this competitition

My main question is WHO THE HELL voted for the Richard Clayderman type saxaphone player??? What WERE they thinking? Have they never passed a street busker in their life before???

Great post Storm on page 301. Clapping Like you I don’t think she was annoyed that she didn’t win. If anything she looked relieved thinking it will all stop being so personal. But, little did she know that it would not stop the vicious tongues from wagging. To tell the truth I secretly wished she wouldn’t win so she can start again in a while with the right PR working for her. Frowner

I did and I've also passed many a street busker who certainly weren't of the same calibre or, indeed, in his league!!

Julian Smith was simply sensational.

Well whilst I agree that he didn't exactly play difficult tunes, what he did play, he played well enough. Although he wasn't anything particuarly outstanding, I thought what talent he did have completely outclassed anything else on the show. I'm still trying to understand the entertainment value in the fat father and son wobbling round the stage, the devil brat from hell, or the grandad and his daughter.
FM
I reckon SuBo will be fine, targetting (say) America. I think Hollie is destined for the West End now as I can see an "As Seen On BGT" on a bill poster in my mind's eye. Stavros is just a novelty act and I think they'll have a few bookings out of this. Not sure about Aidan, he's good but street-dancing is a niche thingy I think. He'll get some PAs for a while. 2 Grand ... immediate obscurity.

i dont think she was annoyed at all. it seemed to me she didn't know what planet she was on ................it was widely reported that she was stressed to the oint of walking ............IMO ......she'd been tranquilised to the nth degree............she really didn't know if she was coming or going.

It's a shame really ............all she wanted was the opportunity to perform in front of the queen ............suddenly everyone was talking about how she could break the US and all the mega bucks and record deals etc.

i dont think she ever wanted that. So sad that all the joy and excitement was simply sucked out of her in her last performance.

Putting it like that makes it really sad Frowner

I have to agree, I don't think she wants to break America or have countless album deals. I think she would have just quite liked to perform in front of the queen.
