Teenage comic Jack Carroll was lost for words when Jimmy Carr stopped by to  tell him he’d won a Daily  Mirror Pride of Britain Award .

Cerebral palsy sufferer Jack, 14, was home with sister Megan, 11, and parents Sue and Michael, when the comedian popped in, saying: “I hear  there’s a young man here who thinks that he’s funnier than me.”

Stunned Jack, from Halifax, West Yorks, said: “Oh Christ,” to which Jimmy replied: “No, it’s just me.”

After hearing he had won a Teenager of Courage award, Jack said: “If I  can laugh at myself and make people laugh, maybe they will not be scared to talk  about disability.”

Jack was an internet sensation two years ago when his gig at his  parents’ wedding anniversary got 10,000 YouTube hits.

He will receive his Pride of Britain Award, sponsored by Lidl, at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel  watched by Prince Charles,  David Cameron  and 100 stars. The event is on ITV1 on Tuesday night.

Britain’s Got Talent 2013 favourite Alice Fredenham was rejected  by The  Voice UK, it’s been revealed.

28-year-old singer  Alice will be seen performing for the BGT judges in Manchester in tonight’s opening audition  show.

The performer blows away the panel of Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden with her take on My Funny  Valentine.

Simon gushes: “This is what I have been waiting for. Your voice is liquid  gold. You could sing the phone book.

“I want to remember the day I met Alice Fredenham because I think you’re so  special.”

However a supposed BBC source hit back at the claims.

They bitched: “The Voice prides itself on its high standards, and yet again BGT is taking the show’s rejects.”

And The  Voice 2013 coach Danny O’Donoghue admitted he wasn’t surprised to see The  Voice rejects on other talent shows.

The Script front man said: “We turn away such  good singers on the show, we  say no to people who would have won any other talent show

If you mean the last girl singer then it's not just you.

I don't buy into the, I'm shy and no-one knows I'm here tact and that starts singing brilliant

I dont think she was even that good, her voice was a bit pitchy for my liking.

But I agree with you about the quiet little mouse act.

We all see things differently, for me Alice's body language. not just her hands, told me how nervous she was, if she'd been lying down she'd have been in a foetal position.

The Voice's loss is BGT and Alice's gain. Thank God she won't be mentored by the likes of their judges, made to dance and made to sing songs out of her comfort zone.

Britain’s Got Talent 2013 triumphed over The Voice UK in last nights ratings battle.

It wasn’t even close between the two reality talent shows, with BGT on ITV almost 3 million viewers ahead.

But The Voice held up well despite the clash, with an average audience e of  6.67 million viewers, actually slightly up on last weekend.

However it’s peak audience was down from over 8 million to 7.7 million.

The opening episode of Britain’s Got Talent 2013 auditions on the other hand  attracted a huge audience of 9.35 million viewers from 7PM to 8:30PM.

The bumper show peaked with a huge 11.4 million viewers as the first batch of  wacky and talented wannabes went before judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

Including viewers on ITV+1, more than 10.6 million watched BGT last night, with a peak of more than 13 million viewers,  more than The X Factor final achieved last year.

And in better news for ITV, the show was up 6% on last year’s launch, while  The Voice was down 29% on last year’s equivalent episode, despite scoring a  series high.

Both shows continue next Saturday night, but won’t clash after BBC bosses  moved The Voice to a later time slot of 8:20PM.

It just seems like a money making vehicle for Cowell et al.

But then again, I don't have much sympathy for these people, they should by now know what type of programme it is.

I watched The Voice last night and it was full of contradictory and near outlandish comments by the panel members.
