I started off reading some poetry and was quite moved by some of the poems on here, i took a quote and turned it into a poem, Not the best poem, but i felt it.

A limerick one will be great Blizz  The poetry brings back memories of the poetry rhyming thread we used to have on chan 4 forum,  loads of us used to do it.  It was quite addictive once you started rhyming lol

I remember well on Channel 4 when we all used to rhyme

I think of it very fondly from time to time

I loved the rhymes that we used to do especially from Bagel Queen

She doesn't come here anymore and is nowhere to be seen

I hope that brisket is looking down and knows the love on here

He touched the lives of many, that is very clear.

I've been reading all the great suggestions of ways to remember brisket. His funeral is being organised by his family, so I don't quite feel comfortable posting all the details of it, in case large numbers of people turn up unexpectedly. However if anyone is interested in going, could they perhaps contact me by pm. If it looks as if there will be many people going, then I think I should inform his family. If it's just a small number then I shouldn't think there would be a problem.

The funeral will be on Tuesday (21st June), in South Yorkshire, in the afternoon.

Anyone wanting to go will need to know his real name. Since he used an assumed name on here, I'm not sure about the ethics of giving out his name. Could someone advise me on this?

A few people have asked what his favourite charity was. I don't know about this - he may well have had one, but like many people perhaps didn't talk about it. I asked his nephew for his thoughts, and he suggested that in view of brisket's illness, perhaps a cancer research charity. I would add that since it was his heart condition that he died of, a charity like the British Heart Foundation would also be a possibility.

Although I don't like speaking for someone else, I suspect that what he would have liked would have been for everyone to remember him in their own particular way. As I said before, I loved the suggestion of being kind to each other as a fitting tribute to a kind and gentle person. But some people might also like to donate to their own favourite charity, or remember him by a quiet moment listening to music. (I suspect he may not have told you that he was a good pianist. He was.)

Would it be an idea to start a thread where people say, if they like, how they've decided to remember him? It might be interesting to hear people's ideas.

Thanks again for all the messages. They really are giving me comfort.

I think brisket would appreciate a limerick, Blizz!

Kkkathykk: Let me get back to you on whether or not you should publish his real name.

I don't think this is silly, Ros....but I don't think brisket would be comfortable with it, either.

That's lovely Slinkiwitch.... We must all remember the small b, or we will be in trouble

I thought it was lovely to come on here today and see the flower embedded in the wallpaper.....really lovely.

I won't be false and say I posted with brisket ever (no particular reason, just didn't get the chance to converse with him) but he seems to have been a lovely man and everyone here seems genuinely upset that he's gone.....which in itself is a massive sign of how wonderful he must have been.

So R.I.P  brisket.....at peace now xxx

Ells

Xochi, that made me weep.

Beautiful!

I've finished my limerick. I hope it's appropriate and doesn't offend.

A gentle breeze swept through the forum

Bringing fun with a sense of decorum

Odes to Rodrigo's pants

Or his legendary rants

Couldn't fail to bring smiles, when you saw'em.

With his quizzes our forum enhancing

And his comments on Strictly Come Dancing

He pleasured us more so

Than a weatherman's torso

Without any preening, or prancing.

My rhyming skills might take the biscuit

But to honour such friendship, I'll risk it

To think slow, gentle heat

On this strong cut of meat

Gives us something so tender as brisket.
