I'm thinking - there's no one could find a bad word to say about him. Such a lovely man

He was - so welcoming in the Marco thread -  just can't get over it

My sincere condolences to his family and anyone who was priveleged enough to know him in RL.

Death is nothing at all,I have only slipped away into the next room.

I am I,and you are you.whatever we were to each other, that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used.

Put no difference in your tone, where no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,let it be spoken without effort, without the trace of shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind just because I am out of sight.

I am waiting for you ,for an interval, somewhere near, just around the corner.

All is well.........

We'll take them all into consideration. Whatever we do won't happen immediately (I want to give everyone a chance to weigh in), but there WILL be an appropriate way to remember brisket.

I heard he'd been ill for sometime, and as was his way, just didn't tell us. He would not have wanted too much attention for that.

Thanks for letting us know this Lori...  How sad though.

Most definitely.

I think (I know it's controversial) but there should be something relating to the Troll Tank - then if ever we find ourselves down there and catch a glimpse of those sparkly roses we would feel suitably chastened. He was the best peace maker ever.

How sad.  When the posts wondering where he was appeared, I feared the worst, cos brisket doesn't stay away from the forum. And now this.

R.I.P. brisket. You were a true gentleman and are going to be sorely missed. Someone mentioned brisket's generosity of spirit, isn't that just so true of our brisket?

Condolences to his family and friends.

Nicely put Jenny.    Although like you, and most people on here I think, I thought it was just that he was taking a break....

Hello Everyone. I've only just joined. I am the friend of brisket who told you about his death. I've just been reading this thread - not all of it, because I've been interrupted and have to stop imminently. I just want to say I'm overwhelmed and touched by what you all have to say. Having known him in real life for over 20 years I can confirm that you are all completely correct in describing him as a gentleman. He was a really lovely person.

I will be reading everything written here, and will print them out so I can read and re-read. Your thoughts are wonderfully kind, and it does help when coping with the loss of a wonderful friend.

He often talked about this community and was very proud of his design on the t-shirt.

He had been suffering from a heart condition and cancer for a number of years. We don't know exactly what happened at the end. He was last seen returning from a shopping trip last Tuesday. I understand that neighbours became concerned at not seeing or hearing from him and called the emergency services on Thursday morning. He was found dead in his bed, so we have to hope that the end was peaceful.

I will probably know more soon, and will let you know.

Thank you all so much for having been such great friends for him. I'll post again here soon when I have some more time.

Kathy. Thankyou so much for letting us know about brisket. He was a very much loved, and well thought of member of this community. We will all miss him greatly, and it is so nice to know that he had friends like you in real life.We are all grieving as if we knew him in real life and that is the thing, he made us all feel like we were his good friends. Like Queenie said last night, one of the nicest people we never met. R.I.P. brisket,One of lifes gentle gentlmen. Thanks again Kathy.

Just as BAZ said on the "Historical Chats" thread that she would like to talk to James Stewart to see if he was the true gentlemen as he was always portayed, I picked up an article in the Daily Mail about David Niven hoping to learn the same.

At the end of the article it said the final word on David Niven should be left to the porters at Heathrow Airport who sent a wreath to his funeral. It read,

"To the finest gentleman who ever walked these halls"

 . . . that's how i shall remember Brisket

Well put Summer, a brisket shaped hole that will remain.  I have seen the shock expressed in so many posts and truly his passing has touched us all so deeply.

Thanks Kathy as others have said for letting us know that his death was peaceful

You're right Marguerita.  I never saw him even so much as hint that he was ill.  That only goes to show what a discreet and considerate person he was. He obviously didn't want to make people here feel in any way uncomfortable or sad around him.

Kathy - I'm sorry for your loss x

R.I.P brisket

Too right - I loved his quizzes!

Demantoid

I read this terrible news last night and haven't felt able to type the appropriate words, until now although everyone else has said it all, really - gentle, caring, funny, lovely. Even his rants just made you smile! I avoided his quizzes, mostly, but only because I was so crap at them. Even so, he would congratulate me for coming in at the end and claiming that I would have got 100%, if only I'd seen the quiz in time.

I think I knew something was wrong, when he suddenly disappeared - brisket would never do that to us. He noticed when someone hadn't been on for a while and would always ask if anyone knew where they were.

I'd also like to thank Kathy for letting us know and send her and all his friends and family my deepest condolences. I feel honoured to have known him in my cyber life, so you must all feel doubly honoured to have had him in your real lives.
