Bump

I lost my lovely sister to cancer five years ago. She was only 35 and left 4 small boys behind. They are still times when I burst into tears because I miss her so much and can't quite believe she is gone. Our mam died when we were kids from the same dreaded disease.
Shitting hell Fairfax, that's harsh. Lost me ma 26 years ago age 43 leaving six kids, and the fear has never left me that it could happen to us. Huge love mate x
Another link; this one is for Breakthrough.
They also have a free information line; 08080 100 200
And, Fairfax; I know it's inadequate, but

Brilliant Sarum, send some chocolate cake my way then please 'cause I'm poorly.
Seriously, my hubby raised 50.00 yesterday by wearing a pink shirt and a pink baseball cap and donating his tips for the day, which increased a lot when people asked him why he was wearing pink, some of his workmates joined in, but don't know yet how much they raised.
Bumping this for the final day of Breast Cancer month.

This is really not the way I would have liked to resurrect this thread. I'm typing this with tears running down my face.
I've just finished talking to my sister on the phone. Her chemo isn't working as well as everyone hoped, and she's just been told that she is going to need a mastectomy and axillary clearance as soon as possible; definitely the breast with the original tumour, and possibly the other one too.
She want to wait unitl after christmas, for the sake of her children...I've promised to go up and visit her next weekend, and she wants me to help her tell her youngest daughter (8 years old) what's going to happen.
I don't know if I'm strong enough to do that.

Oh Sarum, so, so sorry to hear that.
to you and your sister. Only words I know, but I genuinely know how you feel and you will find strength because somehow you do, you will be crying inside but will be strong for your sister, I know, because I have been there.

Babe, thank you.
I feel a bit ashamed of myself really; there are people who cope with far more difficult problems than this without falling apart. It's just come as a bit of a shock; everything seemed to be going well for my baby sister until a couple of days ago. We'll get through this.

Oh Sarum I am so so sorry to hear that, I am sure you will find strength from somewhere, as I did today when I went to see my friend, she was to go into Hospital next Tuesday for her mastectomy, but was rushed in on Friday with Pneumonia, they now think they may not be able to do her op until the pneumonia clears up, she had really psyched herself up ready to get it over and done with.
Sarum, if I could come through the computer and hold your hand I would. I mean that so sincerely - please know that you will find the strength to help your sister and her kids. Its fine to cry, it actually helps. I am sending all my love with this message to you and please God things work out well for your sister.
