Having got a member of the family who is currently 4 1/2 years clear, so I feel very strongly about this.

That's good to hear, Babe

My sister started chemo a couple of weeks ago...she had such beautiful red hair, and she's lost it already.  I've been collecting pretty scarves, and knitting hats, for her.
She's jokey about it, but I know her better than that...

Nice one, Babe
My gran died of breast cancer in her 60s (when I was 12) but we're all positive more could have been done if she'd gone to the doctor sooner. She told us the Christmas before she died that it would be her last one, and we all just put it down to her being her usual drama queen self.
But she was right - she died the following November.  She already had the lump , but never told anyone until it was too late.

The one positive thing to come about for me having finished chemo was that my hair which was previously thin and flyaway came back really thick but grey (nothing a bottle of dye doesn't cure) and I love the fact that it's thick and gawjuss

Cannot emphasise how important it is to check yourselves monthly ladies as I was only just into my thirties (9 years ago) when I was diagnosed and it's recurred three times since - am currently 2 years clear since last episode.

My Aunty had breast cancer last year, had chemo and radio therapy.

She then got a tumour in her brain, so they gave her more chemo or radio or both.

Didn't work so she had very serious brain surgery last wed to remove the tumour, it was 50/50 as to whether she's come through.

1 week later she's home and feeling well.  Touch wood and god bless.  It's been an absolute nightmare for her and she's so bloody brave and strong it's unreal.

I mentioned this in a thread a while ago, but would like to repeat it here, my best friend went for her routine mammogram, she had no lumps, puckering or any other signs, she was positive, she had the normal treatment, lymph glands etc removed, she is doing fine, and happy with her treatment. my point here Lady's is please go for your mammograms you just never know.

My friend got breast cancer when she was just 24, she had chemo and a mastectomy...it returned so she had her other breast removed.

Her reconstruction was put on hold for a while after she became pregnant (she was told she wouldn't be able to have any more children due to the chemo)

She had her final reconstruction last year and last month went in to have her new nipples made (they took flesh from her inner thigh)

She's doing great now, she's about 8 years clear.
