I'll probably watch it this evening, but I think that some classic series really shouldn't be remade, and this is a prime example.  I thought it was one of the most outstanding series of its time; I've seen it several times over the years when it's been repeated, and it didn't seem to be really outdated.  Iwould be very surprised if the remake could be anywhere near as good as the original.

Sick of STV and the rubbish we have to endure

I know.. I went all 'Angry from Fife' on them once and emailed them.. they took off Lewis, Doc Martin, The Fixer to name but a few - the reply I got was that they feel the Scottish audience would prefer more 'home grown' talent and dramas (eerr... hello... Wormwood Scrubs?) which I took to mean - cheap telly.  Oh... and they think we want more Gaelic programmes.   Anyone know what percentage of the population up here actually SPEAK Gaelic?

Agree with you there Growly.

I remember getting busted for watching this - not that I really understood what it was all about as I was far too young, but we were forbidden to watch it so that made it a  challenge   I was always fascinated by Frank Finlay and decided if I ever had children I'd call my daughter Prue after her

i watched it first time round..........and had an immense schoolgirl crush on james aubrey who played gavin..........thought i'd find out what he's up to now.......and discovered he died in april this year.................was a brilliant series and i'm looking forward to watching the remake.......

aaaaaaaaaaand.......my lil claim to fame........i knew the twin boys who played the twins in the original series......they went to the same dancing school as me..........paul and jeremy stacey...........so i had a nosey at what they were up to..........they were in 'the lemon trees'(some group i'd never heard of!) and paul has apparently played guitar with oasis and madonna and god knows who else ......and has produced an album for some group which is top 5 in the states........

i'm thinking of tracking him down now he's rich ...and suing him for treading on my toes so much whilst cha cha chaing all those years ago...........

Yes I'm a little afraid of that.

i'm quite glad that I've never seen it since it was first aired - I'm hoping i'll be able to appreciate it without comparing too much.

I bought the CD collection for my sisters birthday a few years ago. She spent a lovely weekend snuggled up with goodies whilst it was knee high deep in snow outside. I love weekends like that.
