hitler was a facist, he was also a madman who murdered over 6 million people and for that he is quite rightly to be feared and hated, but in all the smoke lets not forget that our ally the communist stalin initaly sided with hitler, was responsible for a far far larger genocide in the ukraine and also slaughterd millions more at home and in surrouning countries, i'm not saying either were good but isnt it odd how all the "anti nazis" who hate the bnp seem to have socialist roots that allign nicely with stalin but are so careful to keep that kind of thing out of the debate when surely if they were realy concerned about genocide and mass murder then they should be attacking the socialist left as they were far worse than the facists, in fact i seem to remember that spain was a realy popular tourist destination for the british yet that was a facist run country that no one had a problem with.
facism doesnt always lead to genocide and mass murder but a left wing government sems to from stalin and mao to pol pot and mugabe mass murder and socalism/communism go hand in hand, and itts because of that you get all the outspoken "anti facists" just trying to hide their own political history by highlighting someone elses, its something they have been very successful at too.
I don't think anyone on here is thinking Stalin was a great guy! The post is about a poster urging folk to vote a fascist party therefore the line of conversation followed fascism. It's funny though I worked with a guy who always rought up this topic that 'everyone forgets' (I don't think they do btw) that Stalin massacred millions of people. He was always keen to make that point, at the same time he bemoaned the end of the 'good old days' in S Africa (the good old days being Aparheid) so it kind of made me question his motives! I'm not suggesting that's what you are saying just remembering that guy I worked with.
No one can justify or condone what Stalin did, but I would suggest he was more of a meglomaniac who would just kill ANYONE he percieved to be in his way. Psycho he indeed was.
I found OHG's post on Nick Griffin changing language very interesting as this is precisely what the Nazis did from 1933 as soon as Hitler was elected Bundeskanzeller they issued an edict to all media of the day that from now on when referring to certain words all media had to use specific words. Some examples I can remember from my studies are below.
'sexual relations wiht a Jew' the word would be BLUTVERGIFTUNG which actuallly meand 'blood poisoning' but they managed to change the word.
When referreng to having beaten a football time the word used was always to be Schlacht = slaughter
and of course their horrid word UNTERMENSCH to refer to people with BLUTVERGIFTUNG as 'sub human'
VERNICHTUNG = extermination - no longer to mean just extermination of vermin eg rats and mice but also to include humans
SONDERVERHANDLUNG = 'special treatment' which was the euphimism for deportation and mass murder of Jews.
That's off the top of my head but there are loads of examples of how they started cynically manipulating the mindset of their population, and I'm sure the BNP would also use language in such a way, all parties do but the 1933 German govt used it very well and cynically, which is how you start to change the mood and opinion of a people.
They are cleverer than their supporters that's for sure. But all the supporters need is a few mindless phrases to repeat, which I have noticed in evidence here. It seems to be on the basis of our 'jobs' been 'stolen' though I note to date no one has offered direct evidence of this.
