I agree Soozy I find it very disappointing that most of them have agents etc. Was it always like that ? Cos I've only really picked up on it during the last couple of BBs . It's getting now that we have no ordinary people in BB and mostly minor celebs in CBB . They might as well amalgamate the the two shows at this rate

Would "normal" people want to go in there though? they should mix it up a bit like do a year where all the contestants are over 50 

 

It does make me laugh when they think they are going to be famous, was it the twins the other day asking would they be able to go to McDonald's without being recognised 

Yes...I can't even remember most of the names from past years, never mind what they look like ! Mind you , no doubt they will be trotting the twins out on BBots next year

I don’t find continual arguments entertaining, nor do I necessarily enjoy watching those that have a game-plan and some understanding of how the process works. I’m also wary of the edit and how some housemates are never given an interesting task, while others; the big characters, gain more than their respective fair share.

 

My criteria of what I look for in a housemate is unlikely to match what BB look for; let alone what the larger viewing public are looking for; entertainment wise. I enjoy watching people who are unconnected to the entertainment or media sectors – but when mixed with wannabees and those looking (erroneously) for a career from BB they fade into the background.

 

Maybe the bores and radar dodgers (Sam and Sophie, for instance) don’t get nominated because they are nice people that pull their weight within the dynamic and are a pleasure to live with…

Well thousands of ,normal, people do apply every year although they obviously have to spice it all up to get accepted as Callum demonstrated.

 

Then we get others that are 'invited'.

 

It's not really like BB of old - it started normal, then got that people spiced it up a bit, then there were people with agents and now it seems a few who made or have the credentials to make the shortlist for CBB.

The most normal BB was  number 4, everyone was behaving as normal people normally do, making tea for each other, saying good morning, having chats about how they slept....

I think it would help if either  the production butted out and stopped directing events, or became a whole lot better at it, so we wouldn't know they were doing it.

I loved BB4 Cameron taking tea and biscuits in to Stef in bed - discussing what biscuits were on offer. There were separate boy/girl bedrooms then. It was all rather cosy and nice 

No matter who they put in there and how 'normal' they are beforehand, don't think it'd make a lot of difference any more, they may as well just rename the show 'Make Me A Celebrity Please" 'cos that's what the majority seem to want out of it. I do wish that they'd return at least to some degree to the original concept 'though.

I didn't mind BB4 at all. .it was BB. .there was LF and online streaming with no adds and red buttons on your TV with no adds. .it was heaven compared to what we'd been given in later yrs both by C4 and C5

Me too and Stef had a little crush on him but he never noticed.  I have a friend who sees him once a year, he is just the same.

I just wish that a bit more 'thought' goes out to those that are labelled as boring and radar dodgers when they are competing on an uneven playing field. That's my point.

 

The twins are eighteen year olds from Chesunt ...they are trying to be entertaining - they haven't hurt or killed anyone and yet they're getting a lot of abuse.

 

Sophie was getting criticised for adding nothing to the show while all the 'big players' were out there flexing their muscles and showing off and she probably felt a bit intimidated for a while (same for Callum to some extent).

 

That's the point I'm trying to make - it's all a bit unfair.

Yes it is unfair, Rachel Rice was probably the only normal person to overcome it, and I think that was because people hated other HM's so much she was the only choice left.

Soozy after all the yrs of LUTting I did with LF on in the background all the time I learnt that none of the HM's are quiet just some don't fit the editors idea of the script they want for the particualt series so never make the cut for the HL show.. they are all busy doing their own things... I've seen a whole series where a complete storylne is missed out.. towards the end it appears to HL show only watchers that the 'quiet ones' are suddenly coming to life after flying under the radar for most of the show,, none of which is true it's just no matter how much the editors want certain people in the full focus of the show they lose most by the end and have no choice but to include their least favourites in the HL shows ..

 

Sophie is a prime example. .she's spoke her mind all the way thru but wasn't a Editor choice so didn't make the cut at first.. same with Sam.. trouble is BB think they are fooling us but most of us that have been around since the start don;t take their scripted bullcrap as gospel.. only newbies to the show are fooled more often.. 

I wasn't a fan but I thought she was the most deserved winner of that series especially after taking a full on hours worth tirade from Rex and constant niggles and digs from him every day  because she did a sexy wiggle in her VT so was 'fake' in the house.. to take that crap day in day out form that bully and misogynist without shouting at him or smashing a chair across his head deserves the win in my mind..

 

I bet she makes a great teacher.. .takes all the crap from the kids and never snaps..

That was funny when they sent Cameron, he looked petrified most of the time and I didn't like the bloke we got in return

I always treat BB as a Game Show, with hopefully the best player winning at the final. Therefore those who don't play the game but coast along while others take all the flack don't deserve the winner's title....This series those radar dodgers are Sophie and Sam, they may be nice people, they may not be, but they aren't players, the rest of the remaining HMs, like them or loathe them certainly are

Having watched BB 1, 2 and 3, which were great, BB 4 with Cameron etc was incredibly boring imo

Good posts and I agree with all the comments. I detested Rex and his attitude towards women. Rachel rose above it all when he constantly tried to humiliate her. I was glad she won, and glad that Rex's gf dumped him after the show.

He pretended to be someone else simply to get on the show. Something that most if not all of them do TBH. It is ridiculous that people have to go OTT but .....it's been happening since BB2 - I remember Elizabeth running topless on the beach - she was dull as dishwater in the house.

 

Perhaps audition tapes aren't such a good idea It seems to be moving away from that format anyway as a lot of them are now head hunted or approached through their agent

problem with BB is it is made in the summer where most of the staff are interns or the newest ones to the team as the rest and more mature and experienced ones are off on their holidays..

 

so it is mainly run by a bunch of kids who haven't got a clue nor the life lessons needed to ensure they don't cause personal meltdowns or breakdowns of HM's nor send out the wrong messages to kids who they seem to aim it at nowadays .
