The BNP are not Nazis. They hold some extreme right-wing views. We need to shine a spotlight on them and calmly argue against the very basis of their views at every opportunity.

A Mother's Union approach isn't going to work. You can argue about holding them up to a light as  much as you want. The bottom line is that the GBP look at image before content. How else would the X-Factor exist?  However I suspect that if you aren't ethnically diverse, very ill, left wing, long haired, masonic, or just generally different then you should be OK.

All I know is is that when I did a Government and Politics course, you had to be white, English (not British), English 7 generations back, Christian (so no catholics or anyone else), and straight to stay here, so that will probably leave about a 100 people left to run the country.
Are you saying Cafflicks aren't Christian, or were they saying that?

There's no need for a Mothers Union approach, we have programmes like Question Time instead. Their party has elected representatives and it is not the role of Question Time to deny voters the chance to see these people. Actually, I think the BBC now has an obligation to put them on occasionally. I don't want people to be able to casually vote for their party as a 'protest' vote or because they say the sort of vague thing people with a grudge might want to hear, I want to make those people be in no doubt, absolutely no doubt at all, what they are voting for or agree with. No verbal fudges, no airy hand waves. That is, if you vote for this party then this is exactly what you are. There's a lot of stuff flies around, especially on forums, about patriotism, and host culture, and heritage, and so-called Britishness, and obligations to assimilate and toe the cultural line. It's fuzzy and vague and I think it's simply one end of that party's spectrum of beliefs, just a bit more acceptable in public. I want to shine a spotlight on the whole damned lot so there's nowhere to hide and no fuzzy thinking.

Daniel On QT he will be speaking, not just thinking.
Yes, which is not illegal unless he uses the opportunity to incite people watching to illegal action rather than to share his ideas, debate, and have to defend his nonsense.

It will probably be the UAF who break the law by committing public order offences and stopping people going about their lawful business on the night.  Hopefully not, but we will see.

Daniel, yes which he will, whether he says it overtly or more likely covertly that is what his intentions are, that is what he stands for, etc etc. 'sharing his ideas' yes that is spreading racial hatred too.

Cool. So, we can fully expect him to be charged under the relevant legislation for doing so next Friday then.

So, did anyone see the story about Geerty Wilders?  He couldn't do his thing outside because a small bunch of protesters turned up advocating Sharia Law with signs saying things like "Shariah is the solution, freedom go to hell".  What an odd dilemma: stand by his right to say his stuff, stand by their right to say their stuff, or stand by the right for both to say their stuff, separately, whilst disagreeing with the unpleasant sentiments of both.

A bigoted racist is a bigoted racist regardless of what banner (religion, ethnicity, etc) they hang their hatred on.
Those Sharia law nutjobs are as repugnant as the BNP imo except the BNP don't have a bunch of guilty white liberal Guardian reading Hampsteadites to defend their twisted and sick views.
I'd stick the lot of them in a room and let them hate on eachother while leaving the rest of us to get on with getting on with eachother

Can't stand 'em Joe. Worked amongst them for long enough to incur enough contempt to last me until retirement.
What about us already retired, non guilty, truly liberal, wouldn't be seen dead within a hundred miles of that London, and have zero tolerance for anyone of faith, Guardian readers?
I do wear sandals without socks, have a beard, and ride a bicycle though but.

Can somebody explain something to me please?

The BNP launched their election manifesto today.
One of the things Nick Griffin said was (something like) "We have no problem with people who are established here and have paid into the country and the society." Apparently they are accepted.
My question is how do you get established? How do you fulfill Griffin's criteria?
You cannot get established if he doesn't want you to stay here to have that chance of getting established.
So he is saying a person cannot start from a position of newness; they have to already be established.
That is not possible. Or am I missing something?

Someone please get a sample of 'indigenous English' Griffin's DNA and prove he's the descendent of Kazakhstani goat herders, or somesuch..
Even without test proof, it's highly unlikely that Nick "no such thing as a black Welshman" Griffin is pure European, never mind "indigenous English" (whatever that means.)

Some FMs may remember the C4 programme "100-per cent English" a few years back. Out of 8 people tested, only Norman Tebitt turned out to be purely European (though even he was a mix of Northern and Southern Europeans - probably thanks to the Romans).
Gary Bushell, famously, turned out to be 8% "sub-Saharan African", Carol Thatcher was a quarter Middle-Eastern and the  "ethnic English" campaigner rather wonderfully turned out to be of Romany Gipsy descent...

'BNP to consider Non White Members'
They can shove it up their rectum which is exactly what I told one of their canvassers today.

Unfortunately, I'd only be able to manage a more subtle response - like politely pointing out that their leaflets still contain stock pictures of Italian pensioners, American workers and, of course, a Polish Spitfire...
