There are risks in all surgery - what a tragic story
I read a newspiece the other day about an ex footballer whose wife died when cosmetic surgery went wrong. Pete Burns ended up having to sell his house to pay for 'corrective' surgery when his went wrong. I really don't know why people do it. These so called surgeons are the modern day butchers of the medical world.

That's Colin Hendry you are referring to I think - yes his wife died after a botched tummy tuck I believe.
So pointless.
And Pete Burns just looks in pain.

Thanks I think that's the one. He ended up getting involved in drugs and drink and going bankrupt because he lost his wife and all because she didn't like how she looked. It really is tragic and I still can't understand what makes people do it.

I can't understand it either.
Even the supposed best plastic surgeons in the world can ruin someone's looks - you only have to look at 99% of the rich and famous who have gone under the knife to see that.

Well it's a subject I don't really like getting involved in normally because all those famous women who have lip surgery look positively ugly to me, huge top lip and not much on the bottom, what the hell? It's a bad idea in so many ways I don't know where to start but it's best I don't start as my views may be offensive to certain males on here who adore aforementioned women
Bottom line: breast enhancement is major surgery. Like any major surgery, there are inherent risks. However, that's not the general public perception of cosmetic surgery, and I find that rather worrying. Perhaps that term "cosmetic" is seen to imply a lower risk.
I found the last line in the article very revealing:
"Her previous five operations were reportedly done at a private clinic in Poland which refused to admit her for a sixth time."
Now, leaving aside whether any responsible surgeon would carry out 5 enhancements on the same woman in the first place, you have to wonder why she didn't have pause for thought after they refused to operate. Second opinions are all very well (indeed, they serve a very important purpose), but they're there to protect patients: you don't go shopping around for the one you want...

Thats so sad....

I agree that breast surgery is still 'surgery,' and people don't seem to realise the risks. To be honest, I wouldnt have plastic surgery if you paid me. I would never ever put myself through surgery that was not necessary.
