Ki-Ora during the interval if you were in funds and if you really were pushing the boat out then it was an ice cream tub with a wooden spoon.  Choc Ices were for them with a more discerning palette.

Cosmo as always you've got my number  I was having a little reminisce tonight about my great uncle - he was a lorry driver and sometimes I'd go with him.

Whenever I asked where we were going he said 'We're going to Luton to buy a straw hat' ......................i googled tonight and apparently Luton was famed for straw hats. Was that a saying in your youth ..............or was it just my mad uncle?

You're on your own with that one Soozy.  No madness in my family whatsoever, no sirree

I used to go with my uncle (he wasn't mad ) and deliver the biscuits for Peak Freens - think they became Allied Biscuits.  I'd sit in the front seat of the cab and he'd sing Frank Ifield's I Remeber You at the top of his voice.  At the time I thought everyone's uncle's did such things.....  And of course, riding shotgun these days wouldn't be allowed but back then kids used to tag along regardless.  I suppose it was a way of looking after us during the school holidays...?

He used to call me Coco Pops 'cos he said I had big eyes like the monkey in the adverts.

Jeeze, and to think I used to wonder how I ended up like this

And Mike McShane.

John Sessions?  Josie (something) Lawrence?

Them too.

One of those I was trying to remember was called Ryan Stiles (I think?).

The other was Colin something or another - I think he was Canadian.

i have a story about Peak Freans Biscuits.

in 1979 - they announced big redundancies around Christmas Time. The artists working on the biscuit tin reworked their art ..............there was dog pooh and people shagging in the park on the picture on the Christmas tin .................................I think it was cottoned on to and production stopped but I saw one of them (living in Catford at the time) I'll bet those tins would be worth a few bob now. Actually - now I come to think of it - it may have been Huntley and Palmers!
