not sure all these 'bargains' are really bargains

As someone who tracks items I am interested in I can say for sure that some of the deals I have picked up are very good indeed.

Last year I managed to get ÂĢ77 off a brand new iPad. With Apple you know exactly what the price is that you pay.

As someone who is pretty much anti most holidays (especially xmas which has to be the biggest sucker punch to the public as they pretty much have to spend pots of cash - oh and Proms for schools ) I agree about the Americanisation of shopping. But I always want a bargain.

The only celebrating I am doing is to pick up a great bargain.

On a side note, what do bloke peeps like for Christmas? I can't think what to get my brother this year. He usually gets a load of Dr Who stuff and gardening bits and bobs. Also last year I got him a roomba [ little robot hoover]- and he never used it

He's quite gadgetty and likes sci fi and astronomy. Any suggestions welcome

I am not complaining... Yesterday Debenhams had a 50% sale on boots... Plus i found a further 10% off code..... I ordered 2 pairs of knee high boots for ÂĢ20 each!! with free delivery AND it wasn't an unnecessary buy as my current boots are almost at 'talking' stage and i was off into to town to buy some when i spotted the sale online

My budget? About five hundred squid. There's only the two us so we tend to be quite generous with each other.

We can work with that Rog.

Does he have a good pair of brown brogues - always a winner?

Though they are a classic, don't think he'd wear them Velvet . He's not one for brown. He's a fashion fusspot!

Hmmm... think he likes his mp3 + headphones more than blasting out music. He lives next to students and he's always complaining how noisy they are? Its an old fashioned Belfast terrace - you can hear the neighbours sneezing practically

You're on the right track though - got him cable organiser bags before.

I need an Xbox One for the eldest.  Currently seeing a deal for the console, Assassins creed Unity (newest one) and Assassins creed Black Flag for ÂĢ325 which seems to be a good deal as it's much dearer elsewhere.  I'm hoping some other good deals appear tomorrow because the Xmas fund is dwindling and I need to get a move on before there's nothing left of it!

Been in the store today and they have signs saying they are doing Black Friday and will price match other stores.

but they've refused to offer financial assistance to Bristol Zoo penguin enclosure so I won't shop with them again grrr

Err, you have me at a disadvantage there Pengy, I'm not aware of that particular story.

Thanks for the link Rog. I have had a read through and not wanting to upset anyone (and also knowing the arguments that may be put forward) John Lewis are giving money to penguin projects as per the article, not just that specific one in Bristol.

What concerns me more is that fact that ARLA (a milk producer) has just cut what it pays to the farmers as well as announcing some redundancies in their business a double whammy for people connected to the company as we approach the season of uncontrolled spending. I will not be buying ARLA products from now on.
