All the bits that used to be on the bottom of my computer screen are now on the side, what do I do to get it back

The taskbar you mean?
Put your mouse on the outer edge of the taskbar and drag it back down to the bottom

Right click on the toolbar then click on tile windows horizontally, then when it's back in the right place click on lock task bar.

Then click on cascade until it's back in the right place.
