Day 57: Ways to distract yourself from your aching arm while Raising Money
Big Brother's given the housemates a really easy way to add more money to the prize fund today. All they have to do is hold onto a rope keeping a bag of money aloft. Easy! Except they don't know how much money is in their bag, and they don't know how long they'll have to keep holding it... and Big Brother has sent in a series of temptations to lure them away from their task. So maybe it's not so easy after all.
In order to hold onto their money bags, the housemates have employed a series of different tactics to distract themselves from how much it hurts and how bored they are. Here's how they're doing it...
Talk about the Queen
Does the Queen own all swans? Has she ever been to Benidorm? And does she have a secret network of tunnels under Buckingham Palace that allow her to come and go as she pleases? The questions are endless.
Count the number of letters in their names
H-A-R-R-Y, five. N-I-C-K, four. D-A-N-N-Y, five. Yeah, this is a rubbish game, and it doesn't take very long to get through everyone, either.
Look at planes
The housemates love spotting planes, and this task, which keeps them standing in more or less one spot in the garden, gives them plenty of opportunity to do it. Is that a private jet? Or a UFO? It's fascinating, either way. At least until it flies off.
Dance
There are loads of benefits to dancing: it stops your legs from going to sleep, it releases happy endorphins, and it lets you pretend that you've got your hand up next to your head because you're throwing shapes, not because you're taking place in a sadistic task with no end in sight.
Sing
On the topic of music, what better time for a quick singsong? Sam's been treating the housemates to several of her own compositions, including one about Cristian and his good looks. The only problem was she couldn't think of anything that rhymed with "looks". Still, it passed the time.
Constantly ask what time it is
They say, when you're trying not to fall from a great height, that you shouldn't look down. The same theory applies to this task: housemates kept asking what time it was so they could work out how long they'd been hanging on, but as distraction tactics go, it's about the worst thing they could possibly do. All it does is refocus their minds on how long they've been suffering...
Play the Yes/No game
But asking for the time was a better strategy than Sam's idea to play the Yes/No game, which turned out to be Jack's downfall. Turns out it's not a very good idea to put your head in your hands when you're meant to be hanging onto a rope. Oh dear.
How much longer can the remaining housemates hang onto their money? We'll let you know.
