i'll get back to ya
No no no no...I need to break my addiction
OOH! Fingers crossed......but I bet the HMs would be, errr different
I dunno, reality shows on Channel 5 are generally crap. Reckon this could be the ultimate downfall for Big Brother. They should just leave this series as the last ever.

thats helped with my decision
this is bad news
I've worried myself now.
If someone takes it over - they MUST employ Marcus Bentley or it's just not worth it.
Considering that Richard Desmond is behind the purchase of Channel 5, this means that that channel will cease to be recognisable as it will ditch virtually all its cuurent programmes, including every American series shown on Channel 5 and the 2 digital channels and concentrate just on trash.
Desmond is the man behind many of the TV porn channels and stuff like Penthouse. He also owns the Daily Star, the Express and OK magazine.
This is bad news for television.

TBF...there are a lot of other rubbish filled channels about...E4 for starters, unless you like endless repeats of Friends.
That article doesn't say BB is moving to channel 5.
Desmond is said to be keen to use the medium to schedule an increased output of reality and celebrity shows, potentially with Big Brother as its flagship

I knew someone would pick it up... and with that there would be changes... but Ian Wright!! nooooo!
Ah well... I suppose I can look on it as a type of withdrawal programme.

potentially with Big Brother
He'd be daft to ditch it, it still has goodish ratings, but the formula would have to change and Marcus Bentley would have to present it....Davina or Ian Wright....both arrrgh!, but..I expect it will be some pneumatic blonde bimbo knowing the future owner's interests
Both Davina and Marcus Bentley have said that if BB were to move to another channel and they were asked to do it, then they would.
it can be presented by the man from the moon for all i care......i just wanna watch bb!!.....

You do have a point, spongey.. but I'd miss Marcus' voice,
Mind you.... I thought I'd miss Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant from Dr Who, so I think I've already proved fickleness.
The Guardian reports that Desmond will be summonsed to appear before the House of Commons culture committee to be grilled as to what he intends to do with Channel 5. Although until 2014 the Channel 5 licence requires some output of current affairs and news, there is concern that Desmond could transform Five into a UK version of E! Entertainment, the American channel that broadcasts a diet of celebrity news and profiles 24 hours a day.
So it is far from certain that Big Brother, at least in any recognisable form, would move to Channel 5
You can forget about the likes of CSI and all the other American shows, plus the likes of Neighbours and Home & Away continuing. We will be faced with 24 hours of Ian Wright & the like.

There are a huge number of "ifs" and "buts" here.
One important factor which I posted about yesterday is that Phil Edgar-Jones is leaving Endemol. I rather suspect that if BB does turn up on another channel in the (reasonably) near future, it's probably not going to be in its current format...

thats it skylark he is hilarious and i really enjoyed the edition he was commenting on this year
Richard Desmond saying he doesn't want to transform Channel 5, his priority is to get BB and the likes of Coronation street, X Factor and Panorama. He's said to be investing 1.5 Billion in the next 5 years.

I think five's content is a bit too saturated by American crime programming, especially CSI (which is to five what Two Pints... was to BBC3 and Friends is to E4) and of course its reputation for Hitler themed history. It's has quite a narrow selection of programming with a bit of natural history. After 12am it's all that seedy casino programming, so I don't think Desmond could make things a lot worse. If C4 don't want BB then I'm pleased it will be saved and put on five. They may mess it up, but don't C4 do that every year? (according to us on this forum)
