Yup that is strange but when you consider Channel 5 and The Daily Star are both owned by the same person you could read between the lines.

That's just my point though: the average Daily Star front page doesn't expect readers to "read between the lines". If the Star was going to break a major story like this, wouldn't you expect them to proclaim C5's involvement from the rooftops?

Another Daily Star article:

http://www2.dailystar.co.uk/po...and-you-will-run-it/

So: the Star's sticking with its story. There are still some interesting little snippets, though:

"Under the shake-up, fans will decide who enters the house, who does the tasks and what treats or punishments housemates receive.

And one lucky viewer will even get the chance to spend a day in the TV house.

A source revealed: “Big Brother has always been proud of its boast that ‘you decide’ who stays or goes. Well now that’s being taken even further.""

Hmmm. This is all sounding rather like a UK-based "I'm a Celebrity", isn't it? Judging by this and some of the other proposals in the article, I think we can assume that if this really does go ahead, it won't be BB as we know it. Whether that's a good or bad thing is another matter...

"Exact details of when and where the programme will return are still being finalised."

Not only is the Star still not mentioning C5, but they're now implicitly acknowledging that a deal with a broadcaster hasn't been done yet.

Found this on one link- hope it hasnt been said before.

Channel 5 is ready to sign a ÂĢ200million five-year Big Brother contract with Endemol following more delays in negotiations, MediaGuardian claims.

According to the broadsheet, the Richard Desmond-owned broadcaster was hoping to announce completion of the deal this week, but ‘last-minute legal wrangles’ have caused setbacks to their plans.

This is despite a previous report from February which said both parties had ‘agreed commercial terms’.

The issues are said to be so serious that Desmond – who also owns publications such as The Daily Star and OK! Magazine – is no longer on speaking terms with Endemol’s chief executive, Ynon Kreiz. Their fallout is said to be to blame for the collapse in talks last September.

Discussions only resumed when Michael Sherwood – vice chairman of investment bank Goldman Sachs, which owns a third of Endemol – intervened, and Desmond handed his responsibilites to Channel 5â€ēs director of programmes Jeff Ford.

Because of the delays, it’s thought Big Brother will now return in August at the earliest with a three-week Celebrity series, before a main version airs over Autumn and Winter.

It would then return to its normal schedule in 2012, with another Celebrity run in January followed the regular show in the summer. This would result in six months of almost continuous Big Brother programmes on Channel 5, between August and January.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Cheryl Cole has rubbished today’s Daily Star rumour that Cheryl Cole would replace Davina McCall as host on the revived show.

They said: “Cheryl has not been approached, and she has no interest in presenting Big Brother.”

Keep it here for all the latest news as we get itâ€Ķ

TV wont be the same without some BB this summer, new show or even repeats of the old ones would do for me.

I don't watch Friends either  TBH I don't watch a great deal of telly, but it's mostly wild life and real life stuff when I do

I'm currently trying to catch up on Deadliest Catch at the minute, got about 7 episodes to see as I'm just getting over a severe eye infection where I couldn't watch so I recorded

I do think BB needed a longer break and is coming back too soon but hey we get to all argue and get wound up again by these people. At least theres a few decent things to watch on C5 now and not just Home and Away on it's own!

Yes, this finally does look official, as it actually mentions C5 at last. Note however that the contract still hasn't been signed:

"The Daily Star Sunday can exclusively reveal that a five-year contract with programme makers Endemol will be signed in the next few days."

Needless to say, the heavily-publicized list of HMs is nothing more than a wish-list. Mohamed Al-Fayed, Charlie Sheen and Chelsy Davy? Yeah, right...

Apparently so: it's the only way they can fit a Summer show in this year now. Because the negotiations took a lot longer than expected, they don't have the time to run auditions for a "proper" Summer BB.
